Anyone else had issues with their led reg lights? This is the 3rd one in a couple of weeks to go. Am I doing something wrong or required they just pants generally?
Yeah all the interior ones are ok, they get rather warm but it just appears to be the reg ones. wonder if it just gets too hot. Thinking maybe put some small vent holes in the plastic housing... That's pants, I'm always on the road and will 100% get pulled by the fuzz round here..any excuse
I have the same problem too, although mine last a little longer tbh. How ever Ive replaced them maybe 4 times this year. There was someone on eBay who was doing like a fully sealed led number plate lamp unit, I remember seeing it on here a good few months ago I've just never got round to looking for them, and I've got plenty of spare less lying around so Ive just been changing them when they go
I've just ordered a few more leds. I've got two spare housings so I'm going to try and put two small vent holes in the top (the bit that is pushed back into the boot door) and see how that goes. It appears to be the solder not taking the heat and falling apart.
I got sealed ones so just 1 led in a resin dome and they still go! I know what you mean about the exposed ones falling apart though! I think a new sealed unit is the way forward! Sucks about the police though, I've had no numberplate lights for a week and my plate fell off so is currently taped in the rear window until the new ones arrive and nothing from the fuzz!
Does anyone know if the lamps out of another, factory LED licence plate lamp equipped car will be a direct fit? That way you will get proper lenses for the LEDs and LEDs that will last longer than a few days, which i don't mind paying for.
I've been running two drilled lamp holders and the leds have lasted a load longer than they were..still waiting for them to go. I'll post up a few pics of how I did it later.
Mine have been in for ages and they're still going strong. I find the canbus ones are sh*t better just getting the normal ones as it doesn't need anti error
I've changed all mine to Fizzmo canbus LEDs and 3/4 months on they're still going strong. Ones off eBay that someone else recommended to me, I'll try find a link to the ones I used. They're not that cheap mind so maybe that's the reason... Edit - Here are the ones I used: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/300694337590?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT As said been a good 3 months at least and still going, using the car pretty much everyday, so much better in the interior lights as well.
You could always try these... If mine go pop again I'll be going for these http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=371318046359&alt=web
i had the same problem, removed all the wiring loom to check all that over as it was corroding and replaced with sealed numberplate lights, I think they was about £25 from ebay if I can remember, haven't had any problems since.
