Hi all, I've had my DCI 175 now for ages and I've done many mods to it but I'm looking at getting a few more things on it done to keep me smiling when I get out of it. I've had the DPF removed recently and with my backbox chopped it sounds sweet. However the back of the car gets covered in soot!!! How have you stopped this happening on your cars? Would having a backbox on it again fix this? Is there a exhaust system that still sounds good on the DCI without a DPF & any gains from an exhaust system and which one bolts straight onto the DPF pipe? Is anyone running an induction kit on a DCI? Any gains or just more sucking noise under the bonnet? Or is the best for the DCI few holes in the airbox and a new filter? Does the Samco pipes etc fit the DCI or is it petrol specific? The one that goes from the airbox. I think thats it for now, I'm sure I will find something else I want to change it a couple of days ;D
I'm struggling with the soot on the back issue, it's an arse to get off as well. Best so far has been bilberry wheel cleaner and a bit of pressure with a microfibre. It did get worse when my backbox came off.
Haven't cleaned it since its been done, been too busy. Thats tomorrows job. Really don't want to do it now its going to get filthy again! Loving the extra speed though
It's because you have removed the DPF (diesel Particulate Filter) that's what stops the soot, the performance far outweighs a bit more cleaning, or not cleaning in my case
Yeah I wonder if its the design of my exhaust tips that splatters it up onto the boot more that an open ended exhaust tip. Mind are rounded inwards. Its always been hard to keep her arse clean though, only needed light rain to cover the back window with spray :/
My 225 is plastered on the rear from road dirt, but the rest of the car is quite clean. My G Espace (dci 175) exhaust points down so doesn't get that bad, so not cleaned it in over a year
I have a decat and dpf removed 70mm custom exhaust up to a miltek backbox. My soot is minimal under normal driving conditions. Only Under hard acceleration I get soot Your map must be over fueling if your getting soot all the time. I've tried 2 induction kits in the past. A open cone and a itg carbon fibre maxogen kit. The silicone hoses from the petrol won't fit due to the maf and being a smaller diameter. A induction kit makes a big difference to performance on the dci. The standard air box doesn't flow enough air Imo. Dervs tend to flow more air than the petrol. The only reason I've removed is I'm considering selling my car. I may consider selling the full induction kit for the right price.
Only get the soot all the time because Im enjoying driving at the moment When I'm just pottering around its fine. I am interested in the maxogen filter, depending on the price of course. Does it come with the piece for the sensor? Did you run a cold feed up from the bumper? Also did you add your battery cover afterwards? Mine never came with it, finishes off the area nicely.
Battery covers never came on the facelifted mk2's You would use your own maf sensor. Battery tray needs to be cut to allow lager diameter caf pipe.
Sorry I ment does the filter come with the blue pipework + the black section at the end so I can connect my maf sensor to it? Like you have shown here?
It's not the shape of the exhaust the air flow over the car sucks dirt onto the rear, I've never know a car get dirty on the rear quicker than the front.
