250 Annoying Airbag light constantly on and off !!

  1. So Ive not really posted anything as of yet as ive only had the car about a month which I bought from K-Tec.

Basically the airbag light has a mind of its own...

Took the car back to K-tec and the technician that looked at that and another issue told me it was caused by the drivers seat ( as I expected)

He cleaned the connections up and told me to bring it back if I had any further issues with it.

Well... Since then it has been on and off like a disco on a dashboard.

Took the car in yesterday again and was told it is related to the seat position sensor as I have my seat quite far back. Apprently I have to be gentle when moving the seat. I decided to leave the seat exactly where the Technician left it and drove home. Almost back home and off it goes again !

Its totally random and nothing I move under the seat seams to affect it coming on or going off. The only thing I have noticed is that it seems to come on more when going downhill... Probably me just being a plonker.

Has anyone else got/had this problem with their 250 ? I havent got Recaros.

    Many Thanks !

  2. Non-recaro here. Never had an issue.

  3. I know it was always a common issue on the Clio's and the underseat connectors caused it but I haven't heard much about this problem on the Megane 250 so guessing I've got a bit of an issue somewhere !

  4. Got the same problem but I've got leathers. My horn also stopped working. But told it's the steering wheel ring ?

  5. Brilliant so this problem continues from the mk2 to mk3. It really is poor how they dont fix this flaw. I had this issue on both my megane 225's at some point, having it turned off by clip made no difference its like it will come back on at some point. Even told the mot tester to not move my seat as this would have been the only thing it failed on but luckily it didnt anyway. I was told only a rewire would fix it costing over a £1k for the megane 225 anyway. Even clip dont work.

  6. The trouble is, I think when its plugged in to check the fault, it might say "drivers seat airbag" but thats not always the problem. It could be a number of things and the ring on the steering wheel is either a bitch of a job or costs a lot if I remember correctly as It was the same on the clios.

It annoys me that I think i'm just going to have to put up with it after spending a hefty amount of money on a car. Im in contact with Renault UK about it anyway along with the annoying rattle from the cambelt area that seems realted to a pulley or something.

  7. the cambelt area rattle was a design fault on earlier cars, I think.. Unless yours is faulty, of course..

  8. Under the seat connections havent changed since the early clio. Cut out the connectors & solder back together. Takes about an hr or so to do. £40+vat at my garage. Thats the seat fault sorted. Another common thing as mentioned is the rotary switch / clock spring. Around £200. So not too bad to sort out as long as the guys working on them know what they're doing with clip.

  9. Why would you need Clip to sort the clock spring?

  10. This is what annoys me about renaults, surely with the amount of problems with dodgy connectors since the early Clios you would think they would revise their parts or something !

  11. Im having the exact same issue on the mk3 but ive leather recaros. It can be fine for weeks then going up a hill you hear a click in the doors and the light comes on. You cant code read it as it doesnt store it. Normally a turn off and back on again clears it but some days it just comes back on 30 seconds after start up

Ive messed about with the wires under the seat but it doesnt seem to do much

  12. Also got the same thing on my mk3 coupe (TCe 180) comes on at completely random intervals, typical as the MOT is coming up in a few months that it's bound to come on during the test.

Will investigate the under seat connectors as the same fault was very common on a Citroen C2 VTS which I used to own.

Would love to hear a solid fix though.

  13. Not got this issue but retro fitting new seats so no doubt I'll end up with the issue.

French and electrics! something I've learnt to live with sadly.

  14. Disconnet the conectors under the seat and connect back up.

Tie wrap round connector apparantly sorts them for good.
