Damp compartment.

Discussion in 'Electrical & Interior - Security, ICE, Wiring Loom' started by kentiiboii, Sep 7, 2015.

  1. I have a r26 230 team f1.
The compartment on the floor in drivers foot well is always damp, I've tried hoovering it out to get all the water out, but it still seems to get damp again.

Anyone ever had this problem and sorted it out?

  2. More than likely, its the scuttle drain. thats the usual cause.

  3. Will give this a check at some point then.

  4. scuttle drain, complete pain in the arse, you need to wiggle a bit of wire down it or pull it out and clean it, then cut the poxy bung off the bottom of it, it takes a bit of wiggling to get it back in but if i can do it anyone can : )

  5. Cheers appreciate the help. :-)
I know nothing at all about renaults, always been a peugeot man.

Might pop up on newbie thread and say hi tomorrow.

  6. Hi Guys, where is this scuttle drain located exactly?

  7. Pull off the wiper caps and remove the wipers. Then remove the plastic trim below the windscreen and you can see two rubber grommets. One under the wiper motor and one with the wiper motor wiring going into it on the near side. Slide a wire or flexible lond thin brush down the grommet and out the bottom.
Good point about the flap at the bottom of the rubber drain hose - I was wondering whether to cut that off. With the wheels off you can just reach up from the bottom and feel the bottom of the hose and even insert a brush through the bottom of the hose if need be.

  8. Guys, have a search on here and I'm sure you'll find plenty of threads that cover this.

Not that it can't be discussed again of course, but you may find more or better info on previous threads.

It is a very common issue with Meganes, especially Mk2s.

  9. Hi Guys, where is this scuttle drain located exactly?

  10. Thanks for the "how to"!

  11. Mine was a blocked aircon drain. Scuttle was full of shite too obviously.

  12. Need to check mine out. Thought would be a doddle, looks a bit of a ballache!

  13. Done it on my 250 as my driver's side footwells was damp. My drains seemed to be clear and I contemplating whether to remove the flap but didn't. Maybe I should of.

It was pretty simple to do, and I'm not normally good at doing things like that.

Followed the how to on here
