3"decat into standard exhaust - R26

  1. Sounds as though the cat is the most restrictive part of the exhaust system. I quite the turbo whistle and exhaust sound as it is from factory.

If I just delete the cat and put in the RS Tuning 3" decat will the sound remain much the same and will it mate up okay to the standard system ?

  2. It makes it slightly deeper on idle but that's about it imo, and it fits fine to the standard system

  3. As already said it will it the standard system fine. I had this set up too
i found it did change the exhaust note a little, it wasn't much louder.
When I had mine fitted I kind of lost the whistle, it was stil there but certainly wasn't as loud as before.

  4. so was there any benefit to getting the decat then performance wise?

  5. I've just fitted a 3" decat on mine cos the miltek was too silent. It's made a massive difference to sound unshore about performance and I need it on the rollers but I don't know what power it was before. Imo it's my best mod up too now. Apart from the fitting was a bit tricky ha.

  6. Thanks guys, sounds like that option could be a bit of me then. Fractionally louder/deeper is okay. I wonder if the engine management light that would come on can be mapped out ?

  7. Yeah I had my map altered so the secondary lambda was switched off.

  8. That's weird, I have the Miltek and it made the car a LOT louder (I already had standard exhaust with back box chop). I'm actually thinking of having the back box refitted to make the car quiet.

Power wise it was already mapped, I took it to RS Tuning for a tweak after having the decat and it went from 262/270 to 272/285, mid range pull was noticeably better.
