Bought the car two weeks ago and i've tried everything in my power to clear the crap from the alloy, Iron Out the works!! Can anybody help or have a suggestion of what it is and how the hell to clean it!
Is there a way to sort it without a referb? Also do you know what options of finishes the 250 alloy came in. Mine are quite a matt look where when i tried to clean up the alloy with the issue its started to go quite glossy!
Definetly will need a refurb. Not 100% about the 250 but the 265 cup comes with satin finish on the 18" wheels
Good luck with that. I can't imagine a garage will be willing to fix something like that on a second hand car. I stand to be corrected though.
I've recently had my alloys refurbed. It was like the satin finish was coming off above a base black coat.. Another forum members went the exact same way. Shite finish from the factory it seems. Also when I got mine refurbed, they said my wheels never had any primer on them at all.. So had to be fully stripped back to be re-done properly...... Renault eh Btw, i had mine done gloss and I much prefer them to the satin. Proper shiny
You could see through the paint on mine, shyte finish. Had mine done powder coated gloss black to, suits the other gloss black on the car.
Suppose it depends where you live.. Up here in Scotland by me you are looking at £50 a wheel at the very least.. 50-60 is the kind of standard haha. As kent says I think the gloss goes better with the diffuser and the gloss bits on the bumper
Friend of a friend is going to give me half price on each wheel so it'll cost me 100 sheets to get them re done, not to bad i guess! Cheers anyway guys
Had a similar issue with the wheels on my 250 cup so took the wheels off and gave them a good going over with t-cut and then polished with g3 wax and they came out looking like new. To the extent of having several people aproaching me in the next week or so asking whether the wheels were standard for the cup and how vood they looked
Yes looks like an acid cleaner left on too long. First try some mild T Cut or liquid polish with a cleaner to see if it will either come off or clean up. That is what I had to do. I used T Cut metallic as well. Cheers Andy
