Na half hour, the base just folds forward and unclips. Then 4 bolts for the back and it comes out in a oner.
I use those on the road all year round, they work from cold just as well as when hot and don't fade. Very consistent and have lasted ages.
Are these not quite aggressive on the discs? The standard pads don't have very good bite at all in some situations for the brake setup on the megane.... Was looking at possibly changing the pads.
I've just done exactly the same today and yesterday. Got my DS1.11s fitted and stripped rear out along with oil filter and oil change. Full check over ready for Donington on Monday. Cant believe how much the rear bench set up weights and combined with spare wheel weight not a bad little saving.
I was told pretty much the exact same thing before I got them so fully intending on running them for daily use too
I used to run ds2500 in my Clio, it was like you had no pads in from cold. I much prefer my brakes to work
My car is in at Renault (my mate works there) today full service and new discs and pads up front gone completely standard taking my DS2500's off as I don't intend on anymore track use just a good Sunday blast once a month.
(Yesterday) got my car through its MOT. Needed ball joints and used the ones from a MK3 Espace £20 for the pair, a dam sight cheap then new arms. Also had a oil change, now need to to paint the wheels this week and a good wash and wax ready for WSR
Fitted the Ktec induction kit for the RS 250/265/275 yesterday got it off EBay for £140 so happy about saving a few quid. The previous owner only had it a couple of days and was brand new looking. Fitting was easy enough and took about an hour and a half fit.
SORN'd it. Dont plan on using it for a while so it's tucked up in the garage for a bit. Whilst it's in there I plan on refurbing the alloys, giving it an intermediate service and a bit of TLC.
The DS1.11 for £153 from JJC (if you email them and tell them you are on here) is probably the most popular track/road set up on the mk2 with the guys on this. Its what I've just upgraded to from normal pads. The stopping power is insane, and they work very very well from cold on the road. Don't need temp to work. Squeal like a bitch at slower speeds though.....if thats of concern.
Have a look on fedoro's webpage and you can compare the stopping power of all the compounds they do... http://www.ferodoracing.com/products/car-racing/racing-brake-pads/ds1-11/
Had a short shift conversion done on my gearbox today by Boardy and by far the best mod I've ever had. makes the gearbox the way it should be. I can't say enough good things about. If you need one doing give Boardy a message he's a top bloke.
It amazes me that they insist the DS1.11 are not suitable for road use, when out of all of them they look to be the most consistent across the temperature range whereas a lot of them look to have very low friction coefficients at low temps. It sounds like the 1.11's are probably similar to the RC5's The only thing missing from the graph really is how they perform from stone cold.
Had the windscreen replaced through insurance. Fitter has put a one inch scratch down to the primer on the inside edge of the A pillar. It's kinda under the edge of the screen, hard to see. He was a really good guy - do I complain?
Taxed it ready for its first drive out after its 'restoration' also got half way through cleaning the interior..
Who turned ignorant? Ask kieran who was asking about you other day? I haven't got a phone anymore mate..
Found a set of matte black Fondmetal 18" alloys for the winter. Was sitting under Lexus, ET60 for 7,5" wheel seems like a good enough fit. Whats the stock centre bore as I have to buy some spigot rings.
Phase 1 Rick off mine. The main reason for removing the linkage was a stiff neutral side to side movement. After redrilling the nylon bush out and cleaning the linkage rod that sits inside it + a bit of grease. Carefully took an angle grinder and a die grinder to it, then drilled the hole and tapped the thread. Loctited the new ball in. Quick lick of paint and bolted it back on. sorted! Easy to do too.
