I have had the Trophy-R for a few months now and have recently added some pure carbon fibre parts to give it some more presence and a 'track slag' look. This included badges, gear knob insert, wing mirrors and mudflaps. (I live in N. Ireland and most of my driving is on B roads, which are usually wet and covered in loose stones, mud and cow sh-t). Also took the megane lettering off the rear hatch. Streamline Carbon produced all the bits for me, less the muflaps which I made using carbon sheeting. Next mod will probably be a stage one re-map after 5k is on the clock by a reputable mapper (base map, no chips). http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v480/blindsideblue/P1010317_zpsgwahcbez.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v480/blindsideblue/P1010316_zps7mklvehu.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v480/blindsideblue/P1010315_zpslrngciqn.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v480/blindsideblue/P1010314_zpsuc1dirtq.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v480/blindsideblue/P1010313_zpsqsze1vug.jpg
Erm, not a fan to be honest mate. Each to their own and everything and kudos for doing something different to a special car, but not for me.
Sorry but i hate it all, i would try to be constructive but its all very halfords-esque for me as said, if you like it thats the main thing...
Reading it back my post may have come across harsh, think the mudlaps were my main gripe and some cars i think, should stay standard
Cheers Matty, I do have a carbon fibre fetish. This model is already OTT in your face boy racer what with the bold colour contrast decals and stripes as it is! A mate of mine who drives Evo's described it as a grossly overpriced Megane with loud go-faster stripes. But frankly it is the way the car drives that for me is the most important thing, rather than the cosmetic stuff, that is relatively easy to return to original spec. Although the fast road chassis set-up & handling is absolutely fantastic I confess that I am a little disappointed with the stock engine map. A more aggressive (and fuel efficient) base map will be a far more significant modification that will really get the best out of the car.
Just point your mate to any number of websites that record ring lap times re: evo vs Meganes I don't understand your comment re map and fuel efficiency though? On the none R Trophy, the map can be set through RS Monitor so that the car is pretty much un-driveable on the road, so aggressive is the map. How would an even more aggressive map make it use less fuel?
He drives a very quick Evo 10 RS, with 100 horses more than the Meg. On country roads in wet weather conditions he can get the most of that power down. I'd best leave virtual world conversations about Meg ring times up there with Laurent Hurgon. This is my 3rd Meg, (250 cup, 265 cup now this one), so very familiar with the monitor settings/pedal map options. I use the car as a daily driver on a variety of roads in all conditions, so plenty of opportunity to experiment with the map variations. The 'extra' mapping via the RS button is primarily based around increased fueling and throttle/pedal response. (Some reduction in ESP and slight boost increase are apparent as well). I assume you are referring to the 'extreme' map as virtually unusable on road? Definitely more fueling and exhaust noise from the unburnt down the rev range but still very usable; from my perspective at least. The base map includes not only fueling but air intake & temp, exhaust flow (leaving the Akrapovič as is), Turbo boost pressure & ignition timing. With a decent base map the car should be good for 300+ HP, with some further increase in throttle/pedal response via the RS button, or on removing ESP. Also it should (hopefully) be more fuel efficient depending of course on how hard it is driven. My last Meg was professionally remapped and it made a significant difference to engine performance. That is my understanding, but happy to be corrected if any of this is wrong.
I like the badges. Are these the ones? http://streamlinecarbon.com/v2/prod...-3-rs250-facelift-2014-diamond-badge-set-2pc/ and are they actual replacement badges or covers?
Yes Streamline produce them as replacement badges. You need to remove the originals. The carbon is high quality & finish is excellent. However, beware because some fabrication work is needed to fit them both. They are hollow with no clip-in fittings. The front badge in particular is a bit of work to fit; (the front bumper & grille had to be taken off to get at 2 hidden screws that secure the OEM badge).
That sounds like a lot of work, think I might leave it. I bought some gloss black covers off ebay but wasn't happy with them.
