Stage 1 remap at RS Tuning

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by sonyboy, Aug 10, 2015.

  1. Hi Guys

Finally decided that I'm gonna take it up to Leeds for a remap from essex. But I just wanted to quickly ask a few questions and was hoping someone could help:

    1. I have the rs monitor in my car and can tweak the throttle maps, would this all go following a remap?
    2. Assuming the rs monitor will still work, would I still be able to pick, snow, normal, sport, extreme throttle mapping?
    3. Do RS tuning offer removal of the middlebox? If so, how much
    4. The website is showing a remap cost of £474, is there an offer for users of this forum?

    Thanks.

*didn't realise there's one in brackley/milton keynes which is far closer to me...can they offer the same thing?

  2. For the best answers call RS tuning mate .

  3. throttle mapping is entirely separate to engine mapping, the rs monitor just maps the throttle by wire input to a certain output.

    Can't comment on the rest.

you have Engine Dynamice in Essex - would save you a packet on fuel!

  5. I'm not sure what you mean by tweaking the throttle maps but I still have the different modes after my remap.

I went to Leeds for mine as I wasn't aware Engine Dynamics did the remaps, if I had known I might have tried them. I'm going to there for my service later in the week.

  6. The modes on the rs monitor just control the input of the pedal in the different modes.

So for example if your in snow mode when your foot is flat to the floor the throttle position is low.

    Just go engine dynamics.

  7. Hi Guys, thank you for your helpful comments... i'm assuming engine dynamics offer very similar power output (300bhp)

Engine dynamics are cheaper too....£358.80 for a stage 1 remap and £994.80 for remap + scorpion performance cat back.

Shall I go for a £60 mid box removal of spend £636 for a scorpion cat back? I previously had a miltek on my ibiza cupra and it was just right.....i.e. wasn't too loud. More help please........

  9. Mid box, none of the exhaust options make much difference. Do the mid box and see how you get on, worst case you'll only lose £60 if you do want to do the exhaust anyway.

Didn't realise I could do a much shorter trip to Essex for a remap, where else do them?

  10. Worth a trip to the best-RS Tuning

  11. Driven one with a scorpion cat back, sounded really nice not to load at all. Not sure what it's like on motor way tho.

  12. I'd go to engine dynamics! I'm taking mine there because it's a 7 hour round trip to rs tuning and engine dynamics is 3! I'm sure rs tuning are good and they have a really good name but engine dynamics also specialise in renaults and were super helpful when I spoke to them! And it depends what your looking for with the exhaust. I've had a back box chop which gives more pops when it's all heated up and mid makes it sound more throaty!

  13. Heard a few horror stories about ECU issues @ Engine Dynamics. Not heard anything bad mechanically though.

  14. Mines been booked at http://www.southwestincartech.co.uk/ , £320 for stage 1 map with rolling road before, diagnostic and rolling road after. It's a small garage that have been doing custom maps for years, they also have http://www.infinity-exhausts.co.uk/ right next door so I'm getting the mid box removed prior to the map for £50. They're only 30 minutes away from me.

They claim I will see just over 300hp. Reviews are pretty good, a lot of people say they won't get the numbers they quote but then find they do very well and also improve mpg slightly.

I'll let you know how i get on but it's not till the 29th.

  15. Do rst make you pay for a stage 1 map even if you want to go straight to stage 2/hybrid + 630s? Works out quite expensive if so :worried:

  16. Can someone tell me the correct air / fuel ratio should be so i can keep an eye on it as there RR monitors this.

  17. No, it will just be the stg2 map you pay for.

  18. If they are good at mapping - you wont need to keep an eye on this. They will .
