Anyone fitted theirs yet? I'm just waiting for some heat wrap to show up then hopefully fit it on Saturday. Should be a fair bark off the supersprint race system then
Careful with the heat wrap you can't do all the way to the turbo else you can't do up the bolts. The he decat to flexi needs some m6 bolts as m8/m10 don't fit. Ive just finished fitting mine today.
are people using lambda sensor spacers ? could I just leave the bungs in and get the eml mapped out? I have spoken to henk and he can easily map out the eml warning for me also I take it that everyone is finding friendly MOT testers? ive yet to talk to mine, not looking forward to it MJ57 do you have a close up pic of the heat wrap near the turbo end
I've had the RS Tuning 3" decat fitted for about 3 weeks now and the Emissions light hasn't come on once!! Not sure if something's wrong or i'm not driving her hard enough :I
My light didn't come on for a few weeks when i fitted my decat, It then came on and stayed on until Mike cleared it, Lasted for a couple weeks then came back on, Again he cleared it but when it was mapped the other week it was switched off for good.
Little update, absolute c**t of a job (well getting the cat out at least) but it sounds nuts now. Pretty happy with it. The 3" is pretty close fit with the starter motor.
Probably a stupid question, but what's the advantage of heat-wrapping the Decat? Thought that removing the cat would reduce temps in the engine bay as it is
You've still got hot exhaust gases coming out of the turbo so the less heat that escapes into the engine bay, the better - unless the pipe is low grade and succumbs to the trapped hear underneath the wrap. Hotter gases also have greater velocity
As said it keeps the heat in the exhaust and the gasses will flow faster making them exit quicker, I've got lots of wrap left so I'll do the centre section at some point before Knockhill too.
It's not too loud it's just right (for me anyway) properly bangs now even just slowing down Gopro is ready for the weekend
http://youtu.be/dKGgXzBaY_w Link for the video. Just a static one taken with my phone. Will get round to uploading the go pro one at some point.
What's the crack with fitting one of these then? What needs to come off or be moved to get the cat out/decat in? I have access to a 4 post ramp. Would this make it any easier.
You'll need a 2 post ramp if any so the whole front end is hanging free. Turbo heat shield off, offside front hub assembly off, driveshaft out, lower engine mount off, disconnect exhaust and lambda sensors then a lot of wiggling to get the cat out. It's not a bad job, hardest part is getting the cat out of such a tight space. I'd help you out if you were local.
Blimey. Sounds complex. I thought the cat on my Impreza was a pita. First time I did it it took about 4 hrs. It took me an hour and a half after I did it a few times.
The cat on the Megane is a 4 hour book time so you'd probably be better taking it somewhere to have it fitted.
Yes mate, email mark@whybee.com and ask if they will do you one for the group buy price which was 110 delivered. Couple of people have managed to get them after the buy. Worth a try.
