    Hi all
I have fitted the new gearbox insert without much problem, a little bit of washing up liquid in the two holes and slid in a treat.

The upper mount insert wouldn't go in at all, the mount was really knackered, so a new one was purchased and fitted no problem.

Tried to find where the lower engine mount is and found this, what the fudge is it for ???

    Hi Boardy
no i am not sure about the lower mount, i can't see it, is it tucked away somewhere ????

And that big lump lives in the lower beam that the lower dog bone thing is connected too, It weighs about a Kilo.

  5. Yes mate a little, jack the car up on the passenger side lob a axel stand under it, blah blah!
The is a beam about 4-5 inch wide that runs the width of the car, the will be a hole in it to get to one of the bolts for the mount, you can just see it in this picture [IMG]
Think it's 21mm and the other is just to the rear of this one, think this is 19mm.
Undo these two bolts and pull them out, then back off the two I'm pointing at and it should pull out.
Are these the ones you have left at the bottom of the picture? [IMG]
They push into the lower mount like this [IMG]

  6. Oh you can't get inserts for the upper dog bone, it's a new part I'm afraid about 20 quid iirc?

Yes that's the ones, i have the car quite close to the wall on the passengers side probs why i didn't see it, Cheers that, a job for Sunday as it's supposed to be pissing down.

  8. Yeah it's over to the passenger side so gives you a bit more room to get to it, I really struggled getting the 21mm bolt out as it was seized in but don't think anybody else has tbh.
Any problems mate give us a shout!

I pulled out the lower engine mount today and this is what came out, has someone fitted the wrong one or is this right, can i fit the other type that will take the inserts i bought.

whatever i think i need to change it as it is a bit soft

  13. That looks like an upper one to me?

  14. What reg is your car mate?
Do you have a late R26?
I think that this is the later cast version so your inserts will not fit.
The was a bit of confusion over this as Grey posted the wrong part numbers in the group buy thread.
I'm sure the earlier rubber coated version will fit, I can measure my mount to the centres if you want mate to make sure it's right.

Will do Boardy, i should be going down again tomorrow.

I will get like that, it looks a bit more substantial than the one i took out.

  18. Just asking for a picture of the bolts because I think it looks like the wrong bolts could have been fitted?
Only because you can see thread marks within the bush, the bolts should be smooth where it passes through the bush but you can see thread marks on the inside where it looks like it's been rubbing.

Yes i did notice that as well, i though that someone might not have tightened then up properly in the past. I think from memory they are threaded about half way.

  20. Yeah that's what they should be like, very strange?

is it worth me fitting anything else instead, most of the time it will be tracked or driven to a track, just thought that if i am replacing, would it be better to fit a R26 one or a R26.r one ????

  28. The mount is the later cast version and the inserts are for the earlier rubber covered mount.
I don't think you can get inserts for the cast mount you need to buy the whole new bush for the later version.

  29. Yeh and that insert is alot dearer i have the rubber covered version in but it needs swapping

  30. Probably work out cheaper to send the mount back and get the early version from eBay, the is a link above for 21 quid I think?

  31. The cheaper £21 one deffo fits? looks abit different to 1 i seen £27

  32. I'm sure that's the right one mate, and Matt knows his stuff!
