Hey Guys My brother has an "07" 225 Cup and has failed its MOT yesterday. The problem is the MOT expires Monday and he is now fretting that because he's left it so late he cant get it into a specialist like Mark Black or RS Tuning. A list of the faults are as follows: 1) Nearside headlamp aim too low 2) Offside headlamp aim too low 3) Offside front anti-roll bar linkage has excessive play in a ball joint 4) Nearside outer front constant velocity joint gaiter insecure to the extent that it no longer prevents the ingress of dirt etc 5) Parking brake lever defective so that it cannot be satisfactorily be operated Questions A) How do you fix 1 & 2 - is there a dial inside the car? (I cant see one in mine) B) Can 3 be tightened or does it need replacing, if so what cost approx? C) Does 4 mean the CV joint needs replacing or can they be repaired? D) The hand brake is broke, my bro has a way of making it work but anyone else struggles. He has to pull up in a certain fashion and press the button in and drop down with a specific amount of force to make it drop. If I try it all I ever do is pull up and up and up and even pressing the button doesn't drop the hand brake. Would a new hand brake be needed or can these be fixed? Cheers for any help
I'm not a mechanic in the slightest ,but I think: 1. dialled in on headlight, bumper off though I think, pennies 2. as above 3. New linkage needed, pounds 4. new clip needed maybe as well known for breaking? pennies 5. this is the pricey one, there was a thread somewhere about this and it was near £300 for the whole system, new MoT tester maybe?
1. When you pop the bonnet there's an alen key adjuster to lift the light level up or down on each light, normally the mot tester would adjust this at time of test due to it taking less than 5 seconds which may suggest that either the adjusters are broken or the bulb isn't in correctly. 2. As above (time or new light) 3. New linkage (cheap) 4. Will just be the outer metal clip has come off (cheap) 5. Will probably require the whole handbrake mechanism, easy enough to fit yourself all you need to do is remove the centre console. (Pricey I would imagine) You should have plenty time to sort it between the pair of you. I'm an MOT tester btw

If the car has xenon lights fitted then there not adjustable from under the bonnet. Possibly broken link on the self levelling switch on n/s front wishbone.
If it's fitted with xenon lights there will still be an adjuster under the bonnet. The self levelling link is only to stop dazzling oncoming traffic when going over uneven road.
