1st ever track session: Knockhill

Discussion in 'Track Days & Track Driving' started by papps, Jul 16, 2015.

  1. Had my 1st ever track session tonight guys...just a 2 hour evening one at Knockhill....

and my cheeks hurt from how much I've been smiling.

Its too much fun really.....Was taking it easy of course, especially on the brakes, not going past 100 indicated and mainly letting the car brake itself down to 80 before using the brakes...

Time to order new fluid and pads

Car was brilliant, a little understeer on the limit, and surprised how capable it was.

Managed to get a brown trouser passenger with a chap who knew what he was doing in an Exige - fuck me.....

  2. Brilliant mate

  3. Mint mate , we did 120 laps of cadwell today, safe to say we need 2 front tyres, full slicks will go on very soon

  4. Nice one, I enjoy taking it around Knockhill. It's a good track to learn on, short enough to get to grips with and plenty of run off. I am still learning the limits of my car and my abilities!

  5. exige is awesome

  6. Yeah, what a machine, this one was running 888s, lighter discs & uprated pads, and Nitron Coilovers - the grip was insane

  7. Yeah, what hit me was how wide the track is really. I knew about the turn-in cones so there were a big help on my first outing....Think I'm going to get a tuition session booked in before the next trackday, I didn't have any guts at all really through duffes's dip and to keep on pressing the the immediate left following on from it,

The guys that organised this one have another in August if you fancy it? was only 25 cars tonight, very eclectic mix as well, Caterhams, Lotus's, 911s, Aston, old 355, couple of clios and a fair few race spec trailer only cars

  8. Who organized the session? Usually go with SIDC, but their sessions aren't so often.

Have tried a few different groups, and the Hot Hatch days were the most terrifying! Lol, having stripped out cliosw sit inches off your bumper, and it's your daily ain't that fun!

  9. Dreadnought garage: they do an event reminder on FB as well : https://www.facebook.com/DreadnoughtGarage?fref=ts , phone and pay in advance basically, good friendly bunch of people.

  10. a bit of video footage for anyone thats interested:

remember 1st time ever lol...and the warm up lap was too heavy on the turbo (I was only in the pit 10 mins tops), hard to keep on top of everything on the 1st outing, helmet etc etc etc

  11. Nice, will like their page and keep an eye out

If you can, you should try and get some instruction. The instructors are brilliant and will give you plenty of tips on how to improve.

  12. Car looks good, sounds pretty nice too !

One thing though, how the hell did you guys get the weather  Knockhill really is a strange place I think it has its own weather system.

  13. haha cheers - yeah the Milltek has really grown on me, 1st impressions I missed the std whistle from the centre section.

Very very very lucky with the weather, yeah its crazy up there at times, the hills make it very different from dunfermline's weather etc.

The grip on the track is unreal Mark, I can see how this is going to get very very addictive very quick lol
