Andy this is the post I was referring to. Rst say their forge item is different to the item supplied from forge.
I was told, that the older Forge cooler, had more cores, 17,and ran cooler than the newer one 13 cores, when mapping on RST rolling road.
Bit like the time you tried to say the Ktec 3" exhaust had pinch points and went down to 2" was it? At the same time rs tuning had just fitted your car with their 3" exhaust??? Again, amazing.
See , now you are spouting bullshit. You are inaccurate with what you are saying. The KTEC system , which incidentally isnt KTEC DOES have some pinch points , reason being I bought one , looked at it , and got rid of it. I then had the RST one made up. Which I must add , has been looked at by a well respected independent and given a thumbs up.
It was around 18 months ago I looked at it , somewhere around the rear box where it went over the rear the beam if I recall correctly. It went from 3 to a 2 n 3/4 or possibly smaller. It was noticeable. I personally didnt think it was quality welded either.
Anyone know if I could get away with fitting a Sports Cat without the need for a remap. I'm not interested in power gains. It's more to do with releasing the heat that gets trapped by the standard cat.
From what I understand the decat runs the car a bit leaner. I would tweak just for peace of mind if nowt else.
Yes Steve. Gave me some bullshit about my clutch slipping on their rollers so couldn't map it fully. The same clutch that had never slipped before or after.
You were pushing for 300bhp were you not ? 250 turbo and bigger injectors etc .. Running the original clutch on a 225 so chances are it's done 60-70k miles and I'm sure Paul would know if is slipping on the rollers when flat out He did say he would remap it after you had fitted a new clutch too Doesn't really warrant the slagging you are giving RS tuning tbh
Bloody hell this threads exploded since I last looked lol Me personally I can't fault Paul and Speck at RS, both dead friendly and always took the time to answer any questions and make me feel welcome on both occasions I've been up there. He always came across a straight guy who's more the happy to put his money where his mouth is and I think the cars he's turned out and the amount of work he has on speaks volumes. I went up there the 2nd time with me mate in his 225'd 197 and he helped us run through a few niggles and didn't mind us getting the spanners out and sorting stuff out in his workshop and didn't want to send the car out half done! We travelled all the way from Burton on Trent the Midlands on both occasions too
To be honest I was happy with the power/torque it made at such low boost and if the clutch slipped it slipped. At the time I trusted what they said, didn't see it I was outside with Richmeg fitting his actuator. So if it was on its way out and slipping at anything over 1.1 bar how is the same clutch still running perfectly fine with no slipping at all at 1.4 bar months later?
I've never been to rst and probably won't, but if you feel that way just don't go back.. There's too much beef going on around here lately
Has the map been modified to take the power later on ? my clutch used to slip as it came on power ,but not at top end as it fizzed off. Load based dyno vs intertia based ..
That's the thing boost comes on stronger now. I've had this clutch under a lot of load. I thought it was on its way out so have given it a hard time. I even towed my mates 530d, where I live there is a lot of very steep hills, city driving start stop too and if that's not enough load to make it slip I don't know what is.
