Hi Guys I have a question about using a camera to video my time on a track, i read that you are not allowed to take video's and if you are found can be charged. Do you ask for permission to use a camera or do you ignore them and do it anyway.
No hand held cameras either driver or passenger, must be fixed securely , my go pro is on a sticky pad on screen or either on the cage, not a problem at all, they do not like and will not allow timing gear.
cheers guys I for once read all of the bumf that MSVT sent through when i booked and then trolling through utube and seeing loads of video's just wondered if everyone had asked permission. is this okay for all tracks in the UK ???
Oulton park on the 25th August, i am picking a mate up from Bristol on the way and we are staying in the Red Lion, Little Budworth. The car is still in the garage having the gearbox sorted, should get it back this week
Oulton Park with msv track days were fine with my go pro suction cup mounted. Just no external cameras & must be mounted securely (if on a suction cup they need a tether too)
I have a Oregon ATC9k it has google map overlay and g sensor same as this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Oregon-Sc...214?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item28037273b6 Its also waterproof to 20m i bought it to use on my Rib and is great.
I've never had problems and had one external on suction cup at castle combe all I was asked was to use a tether which I had anyway..
Javelin always seem happy with mine stuck to window screen with a 3m sticky pad, he did mention tethering it to the rear view last time as a precaution
They have to be either securely mounted or if you use a suction mount you need a secondary tether. Marshall will often give it a tug to check it, if it comes off then you cannot use it. It used to be that you had to register the use of a camera and that footage will not be put on internet etc, but no one asks any more.
on the track day last week they said they dont allow suction mounted cameras any more and they have to be on a solid mount after a recent incident. that was msv anyway
If they're allowing suction mounts then I'd go for a RAM Mount, I've lost count of the amount I've tried and hated. I've got a RAM Mount Suction Cup, Double Socket Arm and iPhone 6 holder. It's solid when stuck to the windscreen and ideal for recording.
in my old car i used to mount the go pro upside down to the sunroof, it was great because you could see the steering wheel clocks etc iv not mounted it in my meg 250 yet, how/where does every one do it?
I've got my permanent mount for the gopro on the windscreen behind the rears view mirror. I just use the suction cup on the nearside front window if I want a bit of cabin view too.
