ITG Induction Kit

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by wms_f1, Jul 9, 2015.

  1. Hi

I'm looking into buying an induction kit for my R26.

I'm aware when fitting the KTec kit that the intake pipe needs to be shortened.

However, does anyone know if its the same when fitting the ITG kit? It will it bolt straight on?

    Cheers

Yes it will bolt straight on mate - no cutting but lots of dismantling to get it all fitted (nothing difficult though)

If fitting the KTec kit buy a cheap silicon induction hose off ebay - some of them are only about £30, could keep your standard hose in tact then if thats what you are worried about

  3. Buy all the bits for the DIY kit if I where you.

  4. Cheers for the replies guys.

Yea have seen those cheap silicone hoses on ebay. Are they any good? Are Forge/Samco worth the extra outlay?

Finally any difference between the ITG and Ktec? Apart from price? I suppose my question is is the ITG kit worth the extra?

    Cheers

  5. I'd personally do what Chris says and just do a DIY kit should probably be £60 tops

itg get air from the front bumper where its cooler, the ktec gets it from the top where it would be warmer

  7. The Ktec filter I had is exactly the same as the £25 ramair filter I have on it now bar the elbow that's been welded to it.

    thats the k-tax

  9. It was in the car when I brought it. Didn't last long though before it got took off.

  10. Thanks for all the replies guys.

James157 - why did you take off the ktec kit? Then replace with Ram Air?

    Thanks also for DIY link!

  11. Took the Ktec off because it was too loud for me so fitted a modified airbox. Not the usual cut a big bloody hole in it but two 76mm holes with two flexi hoses.

I'm now running a bit more power so changed a few things in the engine bay and the ram air suited my needs. I've got it in a heat shield which also stops a lot of the noise. I'm really happy with it now, ive also vented the ssqv back into the intake hose to stop the noise.

  12. Ahh I see! Cheers for replying.

Think I will give the DIY kit a go then!!

    Cheers guys

  13. This is my diy version.[IMG]

This is what's on the other end.[IMG]

Trimmed quite a bit from the bumber grill but you don't really notice it.[IMG]

  14. Saw this on Dijon Auto Racings facebook page.

Looks like the Ktec one but can't be sure.

Looks like a 13 hp increase over standard before remapping.

  15. Yeah it is ktec, they have a deal with them to sell their parts on the french side etc

notice how the bonnet is open to get maximum air, one of the french guys made the comment when the bonnet is closed and on the road will be getting nowhere near as much cool air

  16. It's what rs tuning do too.

  17. I know

had mine done with the bonnet down

  18. Only place I've been to who do that without asking is Surrey rolling road.

When I have mine on the rollers next I'm going to make sure the bonnet is down. None of these false numbers, I want to know what it is how I drive it, with the bonnet down.

  19. I would wager that a fan with bonnet up is about the same as a car travelling at say 80mph forcing the air in .

Either way , dyno numbers are synthetic , and give a good idea. They are primarily used for mapping and giving and indication of power.

If you want to know true power , take it down a drag strip.

  20. I would wager it isn't the same at all.
80 mph wind that has to first take heat from the aircon rad, intercooler and radiator then try and find its way to the air filter will not be any where the same as a direct fan with the bonnet up.

  21. Doesn't mean it's the same.

Two wrongs dont make a right.

  22. I cant see what your issue is ?

You want to know a non synthetic test of power , do what I said and drag it.

Your just pissed cos you didnt make the power you expected @ RST

  23. Not at all.
I was conned at rs tuning with the imaginary clutch slip which has never happened before or returned even though I'm now running a lot more torque.
Strange how this imaginary fault happened just after I saved Richmeg from paying rs tuning for fitting his 630 injectors. I could see Paul was pissed off but couldn't say anything at the time because there was a lot of people there.
The same rs tuning who told Richmeg to use his original 225 actuator on the 250 turbo ( remember the big discussion on here where i advised him to fit the forge)which on the day couldn't hold the pressure causing a low power figure. Amazing that Paul said it was leaking and nacked but I checked it and so did Richmeg and it didn't leak at all.
Luckily Richmeg had a Forge actuator in his boot which I fitted and he was able to get some boost and save him a trip back up to Leeds and a lot of money. Money from Pauls pocket I might add.

  24. Saved ? You mean you fitted them ? Who would have fitted them if you weren't there ?

If your clutch slipped on the dyno, it slipped . Its a load based dyno.

How are you now running more torque ? Mapped it yourself ?

Regarding the actuator , normally the standard actuators can hold the boost. I guess that one was failing somewhere ? Curious how you checked it ?

    You come across as bitter.

From personal experience I know Paul isnt like this , I also know countless others feel the same.

  25. Paul was going to fit them until he told Richmeg the price.
Then Richmeg came to me. I fitted them for free.

Does a slipping clutch get better with age and wear? No it doesn't.

Not mapped it myself, don't do that.

Checked the Actuator which Paul specifically said to me "He could blow through it"

Not a chance. It was airtight.

From my personal experience he is exactly like that.

  26. Check my posts from just after the dyno day then to see what I said about Rs tuning. Nothing bad at all. I actually praised them.
I took them at their word about the clutch.
We learn from our mistakes though and will never go back.

  27. At the end of the day the bonnet being open will act as a scoop and with the filter on the meg being right at the back it will undoubtedly get more air, there isn't even an argument there. Those cars pictured have the turbo and/or intake immediately at the front so it wouldn't really matter if it was up or down imo.

One deciding factor could be the sound too - the k-Tec style filters are a lot louder than the itg style due to placement

  29. Thanks for all the replies guys.

Can anyone tell me how much louder the Ktec is compared to the ITG! I do want more noise from the Meg, but don't want it unbearable!

  30. It wasn't unbearable I just like mine quieter.
If you like induction noise the Ktec will be perfect, although I would just buy a filter and elbow from eBay and save yourself a lot of money.

  31. .
