I can feel the car rumble, like everything is nice and tight. Had the plugs and oil changed along with new brakes disc/pads and calipers and I proper love it again Just need to get the upper right mount change which I think is this one? Had these three fitted.
Tickover is now similar to my supercharged jag lol, very more prenounced hahahaha, and my wife was not happy with the ride home, of course I loved it , nice to see you today mr Clarke, loved the sound of your beast mate
Oh I thought it was this one? Top to the left. ? All the other have just need changed. Edit different mounts Are they different? R26-225?
Yeah he is, nice unit and he looks much happier doing it for himself chris, he was going to charge me 40 for the 3, but only charged 20 for the two so a bargain, I gave him 35 tho as he fitted me in straight away and I was gone in 40mins back down the M1, you cant fault his service mate 10 out 0f 10
Narh hes a good chap, very reliable too, Only met him once and a thouroly nice guy worth the drive up if I cant get in at BTM
I think that's the lower engine mount for the diesel mate, but could be wrong I will need to look on the powerflex site, to be fair thats one I would like to change too.
How easy is it to fit the gearbox insert? Was going to wait till the gearbox is out but if it's a quick job I will do it this week.
Half hour max, battery, tray and air box out and you can't miss it. Just put a jack under the box to support it. I have had a nightmare getting the lower engine mount out, took me a hour and a half today with a 700lb impact gun and a tin of penetrating fluid, backing off and re tightening a tweak at a time.
Battery is in the boot and air filter has been moved too. Just been and had a look is it just the 3 nuts?
The bolts are captive but do drop out once the nut is off, just watch you don't drop them, can be a pig to find if you do!
Does anyone know where I can get the upper stabiliser mount from? I've checked mine and it is absolutely knackered. I cant find one that fits the sport models.
Just fitted the gearbox mount insert. Was expecting a bit of a fight but only took 15 mins start to finish including getting and putting away tools.
I cannot get the lower engine mount off! The two bolts come out easy enough but the front bit that connects to the gearbox won't shift. It doesn't help that two of the nuts that hold the rectangular brace beneath it turn with the bolts so the brace can't be removed. It means I have little space to get leverage on the mount. Ball ache!
Just undo the two bolts on the triangular bracket and the mount should pull out, I did not remove the big rectangular brace to get to it.
Do you mean the two bolts holding the mount on? I removed them no issue. The bigger end of the mount would move okay but the smaller end wouldn't budge. It would rotate around the smaller end slightly and I was giving it a good tug (ooo err) but no dice. I thought maybe as the car was jacked up at the front there was load on it but I lowered it down to the floor on one side and just enough to crawl under on the other side but it made no difference.
Remove the two big bolts 21mm and 19mm then the is a ........ Fuck it give me 10 mins I will jack it up and take a picture!
Right remove/back right of these two bolts this un clamps it and should let you get it out. And there is the new inserts!
Not a problem. No mate, they just go around the existing bush, you can't go wrong they just push into place!
Have you got the late R26 lower mount? Can't see it being to difficult to get out though, doubt you would need a press.
Yes I have late R26 mount. I bought this: http://www.powerflex.co.uk/black-series/product-details/Rear+Lower+Engine+Mounting+Bush/11586.html
Had mine fitted today as well as a new top stabiliser. Does the rumble/vibration calm down after a bit of use? Theres more than I was expecting, mainly when setting off in 1st.
Anyone who's fitted there's let me know how there performing. Had it on the motorway today and it wasn't good in 6th around 2000rpm. il be taking them off if there not going to bed in and calm down
I dont know what your expecting? The standard rubber masks the vibration when you go harder the vibration is apparent. Try a well set of vibratecnic mounts and thats interesting to say the least!!
It does settle down, mine are a little rough on idle and when first setting off but fine otherwise. Did you go for the black series?
