Advice needed on small drop link

  1. I purchased new small drop links (lower arm) off Ebay, I asked if they were deffo the correct ones for my 55plate 2006 Megane 225 Lux & the reply was "yes".
They arrived yesterday (Saturday) so I thought nothing can go wrong so I'll fit them today (sunday) I usually dont like to do this kind of work on sunday just incase something breaks
or Im in need of another part, then my car wont be off the road unnecessarily.
Anyway I proceeded to take the old ones off, the outer drop link end which goes onto the hub popped out ok but the inner end which goes onto the lower arm needed a good crack to pop it out.
Soon as it came off I noticed that the stud which came out of the lower arm was thicker/tapered at the end of the threads but the other hub end wasnt.
The problem arose when I compared the new drop link to the old 1.
On the new 1 both ends were exactly the same, there wasnt a fatter/tapered end & there was any sort of sleeve that came with it.
So I looked at the old 1 thinking that it must be a sleeve on it which may be rusted on but it looks a complete unit to me.
Ive attached a pic showing the old & new drop links side by side.
Has anybody else had this problem & am I right in believing they're the wrong drop links or is there a sleeve that should be supplied with them?

  2. That sleeve was attached to wishbone on mine sure there's a bolt on plate with that collar on the wishbone end of that rotation link.

  3. I've just looked at some genuine Renault ones & they're both the same stud on each end, none of them look like my fecker (just my luck)
I thought it was odd & was convinced it must be a ceased on sleeve but I wire brushed it,releasing oiled it,had in vice with mole grips & I'd put money on that its all 1 piece.
Annoys me even more because after taking em off they looked ok on inspection but with fecking about trying to crack 'that sleeve' off I've pushed the rubber boots out away from the wire clip
so Ive got to replace them now cos I cant get the rubber back under the wire clip, lol

  4. SOLVED it was a seized on sleeve, it had to be put in a press to release it

  5. had to cut mine, I had to retighten after a 1000m if that helps
