What kind of prices are people getting on insurance? Best ones for me are coming up at around £700 which is expensive considering I'm 28, had my clean licence 10 years and have 6 years NCB.
27 clean licence mods all covered with an ok postcode 1 year NCB but with numerous advanced drivers qualifications £550 fully comp plus fully comp on any other plus keys windscreen and curtesy car.
Adrian flux also with full mods, 10yrs ncd £345 , fully comp on own and others, old bastard and not prepared to give age
Roughly the same details as me though I have a few points, car garaged in a bit of a pikey area and it's somewhere about £500 with Greenlight.
I must be in a really good postcode looking at these...and im in essex! 25yo but still got 3 points on there, £320 for my 265. Hastings did quote me £295 but was a shit cover one with no w/s and like a £600 excess, their like for like was £330ish i think i paid £420 on the r26 when i was 23/24 so either you get a fair drop when you are 25 or the 265 is simply cheaper to insure
RS250, 21, 0 NCB, held clean license for 2 years, bit of a rough area - around £1500 first time I insured it back in January
22.. 3 points... 3year NCB on one policy...4 on another (had multicar for years) and quotes with each few months ago were 5-600..
27 1 years no claims, 9 points, 2 crashes. Decent area, parked in residential allotted parking space, 15k mileage a year costs me 2k to insure. My old clio 197 went from 450 last year to 1.8k this year (in 2014 I racked up all 9 points and both crashes, previously held a clean licence for 8 years and had 5 years no claims, I had a bad year in all respects) so the little step to get the 275 wasn't that bad. I'm back to paying what I paid to insure a 1.0 fiesta 7 years ago
Got my quote through from Brentacre today. 31, 7yrs no claims, no points, hybrid and forged, everything declared, parked on drive. £513 quid. Policy allows mods up to 380bhp before I have to notify them again.
I'm paying nearer a grand for my r26 with 2 yrs ncb but it's the worst PC in the country (manc) . Altho the quotes are much cheaper for a 265 I enquired about. Don't understnd it personally
Newer cars are often cheaper, it's all statistics and risk as they seem to consider new car owners less likely to get into accidents.
Sounds about right, I'm 38 with 6yts no claims, no points, all mods declared and parked on drive, £430. Any further cosmetic mods allowed without paying any extra. I hope everyone getting cheap quotes from Moneysupermarket etc has a bog standard car, I was quoted £260 for a standard car but it's not, and not worth the risk.
And none of the big companies will touch a car with mods, out of interest I put 'modified exhaust' into the details on MoneySupermarket and only got half a dozen quotes, the cheapest being £1800.
Partly why I've been with Greenlight for several years, me "Hi Greenlight? Yes it now has 300hp rather than 250" GL "oh, ok....... well thanks for letting us know" me "wait... you don't want any money?" GL "nope, bye!"
Brentacre let you do cosmetic mods and exhaust mods without charging you more, hence I'm taking back the boxes out! All other companies think if you touch the exhaust itll gain 500hp and you'll write it off instantly and charge accordingly!
I'm with admiral and told them it has a ECU remap at around 20% power increase it cost me £30 extra. Mine was £472 ,5 yes ncb, v good postcode
I'm with admiral costs £800 fully comp and business use I'm 28 only just started driving 6 months ago and got the wife as 2nd driver , Without her on it is 1.9k lol Shame they won't take my 5 years motorcycle no claims bonus
Cheapest isn't always best,Esure was cheapest for me but pretty certain when I was a panel beater they tend to want you to bodge stuff ie repair almost anything with filler instead of replacing panels and glue broken fixing tabs back on headlights etc, can't remember which company it was but we had to fit a non gen VW wing on a 2 year old Golf ED 30 that was obviously still under warranty and we were a VW main dealer
Just redone mine today, 21 years old, 4 years driving 3 years no claims, £1090 from aviva with legal cover, personnel cover, higher grade courtesy car and protected no claims (yes I was surprised they covered three years too!) with air filter, exhaust changes and remap claimed
Oh and breakdown with home start too all other companies is mentioned on this thread for me were more expensive or wouldn't insure me -_-
My insurance is due for renewal and its gone sky high £818 admiral quoted me cheapest I've got is £695 with Adrian flux but I'm not keen on this limited mileage crap. 23,6yrs ncb no claims or convitions, good postcode.
Ive been with admiral since day one, always send me inflated renewals as they rely on 90% of the market just renewing where they pay £300 to insure a golf i think my renewal was 420, hastings quoted me 295 and i got admiral down to 320 ish so i stayed as hastings had no windscreen cover and like a £5-600 excess
I have a 225, am 21, costing me about 1300 a year w/hastings with 1 years NCB. Have been driving since i was 17 and never made a claim but for some reason my previous insurer didnt allow me to transfer over my no claims because I had one of those telematic boxes when i was 17/18. Insurance is a money making scheme.
