Basic Pressurewasher - K2 Compact?

Discussion in 'Detailing' started by papps, Mar 16, 2015.

  1. Alright guys - in the market for a pressure washer now, just for rinsing the car (I'm going to try the VP Citrus pre wash routine rather than snowfoam from reading others exp on this & liquidf1 of course uses it  )

Is the Karcher K2 Compact (retailing at around £70) going to cut it? or is it worth shelling out a little more cash for something more powerful? - just going for the main unit and no accessories

Any advise or recommendations would be greatly appreciate - cheers guys

[so far I've been using 2BM with a hose and megs nxt products]

  2. Get a nilfisk. budget karcher are terrible. Argos sell nilfisk.

  3. cheers chris - disaster averted , yeah a £90 nilfisk is 120bar vs the 80bar of the karcher

  4. Stick with nilfisk, attatchments like snow foam lance are available should you want. And the impellor is made of metal not plastic that causes the karchers to break.

  5. Another vote for nilfisk

    Yup, Nilfisk again.

Have a look on cleanstore, I got a "refurbished" unit from there. It was brand new minus the original box for about half the price. Plus there aftersales and warranty is very, very good. My pump failed due to the cold/ice and they replaced it with no issues. Even sorted out a courier to pick it up from me.

  7. Big thanks for all your replies guys, going to get a nilfisk!

  8. +1 for Nilfisk

  9. Ditto

  10. -1 for the karcher

I have been through 2 refurbished K2 premium units from karcher outlet and I have sent both back as they have faults on them. I'm still Awaiting my 3rd and if thats dodgy im refunding and buying something else! Most probably Nilfisk based on the above

  11. I picked up a halfords own PW the other day. Used it today and I'm pleased to state that it does the job. £35 at the moment, £29 online the other day.

    Can't grumble at that.

Certainly better than my very old karcher PW which is just about on its last legs.

  12. Bought this today guys, £30 off at £99 in argos at the moment...

Got it set up and quickly tried it out, and yes, its perfect for the job, really happy with it - thanks for the input guys, much appreciated

  13. Not a worry pal.

  14. screwfix have some good offers on the Nilfisk, just about to purchase one myself.....

  15. What fitment do the halfords own brew power washers use ?

    Don't even think about it.

  17. Cross that off my list then ..

  18. I got a K2 a couple years ago or more, it gets kicked and dragged about and abused, still working alright.

It outlasted the foam lance it's used with...

  19. Bit of a thread revival but didn't see the point in starting a new one.. Looking into these Niflisk PW's. which would be the best to buy?

    Tesco - 105 bar for £60
    Maplins - 110 bar for £70
Screwfix - 110 bar for £80 (but seems to have every attachment under the sun)

Will 5 or 10 bar really make that much difference or will the tesco one do just fine is what I'm asking:smiley:

  20. I punted for this one from argos : http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/1577941.htm?CMPID=GS001&_$ja=cgid:18091943245|tsid:59156|cid:189934285|lid:96719037925|nw:g|crid:68362397965|rnd:4677771075108725492|dvc:c|adp:1o8|bku:1#pdpFullProductInformation

Its 120 Bar - no idea how noticeable the difference in pressure would be tbh,

One thing to bear in mind is the length of the jetwash hose itself - the one I have is listed at 8m, which doesn't seem right, but I wouldn't want it any shorter than what it is, I only had a quick look at the tesco one and it says 5m...

  21. Had a k2 for 18 months and the tank suddenly decided it didn't want to hold water any more! Ended up getting the compact for £60 in halfords last weekend!

  22. Thanks man, ended up buying this exact one today actually. Can't wait to try it haha. No time today sadly. Decided just to spend the bit extra and go for more power haha.

Car's just back from minor paintwork repairs and looking showroom and how it should've when i bought it, finally! (Apart from all the tar spots around the arches and the bottom of the doors!:mad:smile: Delighted though.

How you finding yours pal? Did you buy a snow lance fitting for it or?

  23. Good stuff mate!!

The one I got came with a snow foaming lance as an accessory, but I've never used it: I'm currently just using VP Citrus 1:10 in a spray bottle as a pre wash.

The nilfisk is a dream, no fuss - it will really come into its own in the winter time, especially for quick washing and sealing using Gyeon Q2M Wetcoat.

I've used the patio cleaner attachment on my mum's driveway and it came up a real treat, but thats the only accessory I've tried.

Don't know if you've seen or heard mate but there's a meet / open day at Rentec (EH7) on sunday 5th July - seems a fair few of us are going along, should be a good laugh

  24. Haha I'm itching to use it. Yeah I noticed mine came with it to when I set it all up. Must be called something fruity on the box though as never seen it was included haha. That sounds good mate, I'll have to leave it free! Was actually there today speaking to Brian for a while. Is there a post on the forums about it already or?

  25. Be wary, i have one i used on my Pug 106 gti 10 years ago, car we only a few years old at the time. Stone chips on the front had damage the paint lacquer (on bumper), i got to close with the pressure washer and it made a horrible mess of my front bumper. Ended up getting it all resprayed! :worried:

  26. looks quality, gonna opt for the same nilfisk myself as im in the same boat!

  27. After using mine 4 or 5 times now I can say you won't regret it. I don't use a normal hose now.. Only thing I will say is be wary around the headlights, got condensation in one of mine after using it, but it was already steaming up a little beforehand so guessing there is a weakness somewhere.

    Having fun with snowfoam atm:smiley:
