Was swithering whether to do it or not and in a moment of madness I thought why not haha. Actually love it. Looks so much better So much easier to clean also i suppose. It was manky round the letters when i took them off haha. Wee sneak peak of my old car in the front there
Easiest thing to use is dental floss, use it like a cheese wire through the adhesive as close to the bodywork as possible (it won't scratch it) and remove any residue with something that'll get rid of clue residue. Didn't even get mine home before they came off, makes cleaning the boots much easier and less busy. Depending on how old the car is you might want to have some good cleaning/polishing products on hand and if it's been a LONG time the paint color might have faded around the letters.
Thanks guys I used a hairdryer to heat the glue up behind the letters on medium heat setting for a few minutes (not the hottest) and just bent an old card in my wallet upwards at the corner so the edge wouldn't scratch the paint. Used the corner to start wedging the letters then bent the card in the middle so it was like a right angle and used through the glue. Not a scratch. The letter and the glue came off all in a oner. Did take a good 2 or 3 washes to get all the dirt round the letters away. Could do with a polish cause you can JUST see the outline of the E and the G in certain light from certain angles. But i mean barely, if you weren't looking for it you'd never notice..
I think I'll try the dental floss method first and use a hair dryer to warm the glue up. Cars only 2 weeks old so hopefully they'll come off easy.
Yeah i would have used the dental floss but i didn't have any and thought i'd just try my method. Worked a treat for the first letter so just kept going. Dental floss is probably safer. I went slow with the card and made sure it was against the back of the letters rather than the paint.
Hairdryer and an old savings account card did the trick for me. Then wipe away the residue with warm flannel and polish. Whenever I see a Meg with megane emblazoned on the rear, it doesn't look right
I actually have the black badge covers sitting there as I was going to do the same, but I dunno if I like the one on the front as you can't see any white in the middle like the back one if you get me haha? Think just having the one on the back would look daft though..
I am doing mine when I get a minute, they are only plastic letters stuck on with double sided tape. The only dodgy bit is not scratching the paint with whatever you are lifting them off with, as said here, old plastic 'money' cards or floss will do the trick/
I did mine last year, I just heated it up with a hairdryer and then gently pulled them off with my fingers. Then gave it a wipe down with Tardis to remove any glue and residue, followed by a polish, job done. I was a little insure after first doing it, but now think it looks so much better de-badged
I was exactly the same, a little unsure at first also haha.. I think it looks much better now to though. Tried the black badge covers the other day after a wash, wasn't really sold on em tbh. Maybe its the same thing though, Grows on you..? Think the chrome badges actually looks quite nice against the white.
Get some thin fishing line behind each letter, I didn't heat up but that's up to you, I did heat them up when I did it on my clio. Slide the line as close to the letter as you can as not the scratch the paint and move the line side to side and they come straight off just remove any excess pad off with your fingers before polishing the last bit to not scratch the paint
