Front toe setting

  1. I changed both my outer track rod ends last night so got the car tracked this morning.

Initially they set up the hunter alignment machine with my 2008 RS 175 as a 250 Sport. So after telling them the error I could see little choice from the phase 2 menu and they picked a sport. Wether this is 225, 230, R26 I don't know.

Anyway the steering feel is not really any different which is a shame. Seems I had the track rod ends equally fitted but also equally wrong giving excessive positive toe.

Anybody else got any values to compare?

  2. I find a total camber difference of 2.6° between the front left and front right more cause for questioning..? One is even positive camber, while the other is a whopping -2.1°.

  3. Yes I was thinking this myself. It's definitely changed as I've got a print out from when the car was done 50k ago by the previous owner.

I do get the slightest of knocks from the drivers side so I suspect either one of the bottom arm bushes is excessively worn or the steering hub bush is worn or both.

Time to get buying some parts methinks.

  4. Just had mine done (although a III 250) front toe set to 0.01°. My rear toe was 0.18° and 0.36° but wasn't adjusted. Your front camber is WAY off. Is that negative 2.16° on standard suspension and mounts?

AFAIK standard, it should be 0.50° camber front with either 0 toe or 0.01

  5. Yes it's all standard. I'm assuming it's worn joints of bushes. Or the operator didn't set it up properly.

I noticed from the waiting room with a mirrored display screen that he started off by using mark 3 250 setup because I have a 2008 car. This didn't fill me with confidence.
