Things you've done to your car you regret doing

  1. I can honestly say I'm pretty pleased with everything I've done and wouldn't change a thing

  2. Bumper decals half regret taking them off.....

  3. Not getting an intercooler before I had the remap is also a regret...live and learn

  4. Got a blue one, but like hens teeth so just got white

  5. Removed the clock to fit the scangauge.

Really like the scangauge but I think I will take it out and refit the clock.

  6. Wanna sell scangauge

  7. When I find my clock I will do.
Can't remember where I put it and I've moved house since so it could be anywhere.

  8. Not taking it On Track.... But there's still time she ain't going anywhere yet!

  9. Making it completely impractical for the road.

  10. I am still questioning the full exhaust system I have just bought..not fitted yet

Other than that I am happy with my car )

  11. Sold it and bought an R26. Oh wait a minute, that was just a bad dream I had.

  12. I've had the same , bloody nightmares lmao

  13. you boys  i have the same nightmare every night!

  14. Preparing it for concourse inside outside and underneath,
now I daren't use it in the wet, dont use it much in the dry because I have to clean it all up after every trip,so I use my wifes car and she walks to work, It,s become like an oil painting and I now have thoughts of selling it after only a few months and about a hundred miles
Promised myself I'd never do this again, and I have, I need help. Is there a car Samaritans ?

  15. i never did understand this, I could see why if it were something very rare or old, but it's a Renault run of the mill Megane , all your doing is keeping it clean for the next owner who will be laughing at you , yeh you do need help it is a problem, ffs go and use it

  16. Not sure if serious?

I can see the same sort of sentiment in myself as this though. I stopped mountain biking because I would spend 2 hours getting the bike dirty, and 4 hours cleaning and re-building it.

The way out of this for me was to buy a brand new car and realise that, due to the process of entropy, it would never, ever, be in as good condition as it was sat in the dealers showroom on delivery day.

  17. No it's no quite the same at all, you used your mountain bike, honest I just don't get it, very sad

  18. I agree with Steve. My R had 7000miles/4years old when i bought it, and was kept under a heated cover, in a barn. You could eat your dinner off the underneath. In the 3 years I've had it,its averaged about 9000 milea a year. For me, its to use and enjoy.Renault service history, its still a pampered car. Whatever it needs it gets. Is it better to have a used/pampered car, or one that sat for 2 years,,and never moved?.

  19. The only person that's going to benefit is the next owner and your the one that's suffering by not using it, if I were going to have a concours car it would have to be something old and rare , and you'll get no more for it when it sells

  20. Getting a helix clutch fitted. What a waste of good money

  21. This is good, should of named the thread, things not to do

  22. Yes serious.
Agree with all that's been said. Can see the analogy with the mountain biking.

  23. Hybrid turbo, original failed so needed replacing either std or hybrid and only £100 different in price. Well it cost me around £4k to change as needed decat, updated injectors, mapping, clutch lasted a whole month so Helix solid flywheel and organic clutch, whilst clutch was being changed R26R gearbox fitted.
Should of saved myself the £100 and stick to standard turbo!

    autronix likes this.
  24. Surely that's just your own fault not researching it.

  25. Nothing, I tend to be careful what I do and try not to throw money away or make it look like a chavwagon.

  26. Choice mods I had I loved, so no regrets for me! Maybe losing a lot of money in depreciation if that counts as a regret, but that was always going to happen

  27. I regret my helix clutch on behalf of the guy who had it done to my car before I got it.

  28. Easiest way to turn it into a chav wagon is add an R spoiler to a non R.

  29. sounds like we own the same car. You live and learn though I guess

  30. I don't agree with that at all, IMO it makes the car look better - but I don't have an .R spoiler anyway.

Chavwagon stuff (in my opinion) is any stickers that aren't factory, blacked windows, HID's, blue sidelights and any kind of sideskirts/spoilers (apart from aforementioned .R one).

  31. M tec discs (poor poor quality)

H&r springs. Makes the car look and handle better but it's now a utter nightmare over speed bumps only having around 50-60mm clearance under the rubber splitter

Ebc redstuff front pads. Utter garbage

  32. This, absolutely.

If the R spoiler makes it chav then the R must also be chav. Flawed logic there.

  33. Not flawed at all.
Not everyone will look at an r and go wow that looks classy. I bet a lot of people would say it does look chavvy!!!
When I see a non R with the R spoiler I think it looks crap and chavvy, just like seeing a mk 5 escort xr3i with a cosworth spoiler.

  34. I wouldn't have a mk2 without a r spoiler. Very discrete spoiler.

  35. We all like different things on our cars.I mean some people like the chavtastic cupra r splitters too.

  36. In most circumstances people put the cupra r splitter on because of a damaged standard splitter. Not just for looks. There aren't many other options out there for reasonable money

  37. .r spoiler is one of my favourite mods. Followed by my carbon bonnet. I must be a super chav.

  38. Only super chav if you have the cupra spoiler too to make the full set.

Skoda fabia splitter is available for about £15. Won't get the same attention at the McDonald's car park though.
