At goodwood today and got talking to one of the girls on the Renaultsport bit And this is what's being sold now the order books for the trophy are closed. Basically identical to the trophy bar no decals anywhere and the interior is a bit planner, also has the older Megane 250/265 wheels standard. Available in the red that most of the clio 200T seems to be in.
I love that red, alcantara, akrapovic and rlink are all options that's a shame. They keep going with the mk3 Wonder when the mk4 will appear
Next year from what I gather. They haven't even announced a base price for this yet but yeah, literally everything you want is an option.
Oooh shall I start the rumours early 315bhp 4wd Meg but can be 100% fwd with a push of a button that's what i d love to see if its possible still the most fun hatch with added straight line speed with launch control.
The mk4 has been spied a few times http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/renaul...ault-megane-caught-testing-for-the-first-time No doubt the RS will sensational. Probably will bring me back to Renault ownership!
So we're back to cup/FF yada yada. Seems really basic as standard there. Needs to be 20k but I fear not.
The red does really suit it. Think I'll stick to my liquid yellow.I expect pricing that to trophy spec with the ohlins and 19s will work out a fair bit more then the trophy did new. The mk4 Megane does look like a bloated clio. Not sure I like it.
Yeah, that's my point - unless this is c.20k, the Trophy looks amazing value. If it's 25k, what's the point? Cheapest way to get into a new RS Megane but the poverty spec though
Sorry yeah I get that now. That list of additional extras was what that car was specced with. Needs to look good and I don't think in base spec it would appeal as much. That had a lot of people all over it, as did the trophy and edc.
Yes please love that colour, I'd be all over it if you could spec the alcantara seats as well as the turinis, akrapovic and ohlins
It's actually a nicer red then the flame red, I think anyway. This would definitely be a second choice in the colours for me now. Even against other manufacturers reds (not that there was many. White, black, and gray where the order of the day) it stands out
looks like that mk4 will not be as nice looking as the mk3 rs (which is the best looking megane until now). all a matter of opinion, of course..
Finally! This will probably be my next car now it's red, I wanted another red car next and I bloody love that colour
I'm in agreement. I don't like how the mk4 is looking but I'm open to it until I see it in the non camo flesh. Daz I don't blame you. It's a nice colour.
I don't think I'm going to like the MK4 either, LY 275 for me next I reckon. Won't be selling my R26 for another 2 years anyway.
I with you on this. If they don't come out with an exciting Alpine/RS coupe, i'll be going elsewhere - Porsche or Lotus hopefully.
I may be the only one that thinks it's going to look very nice. They can't afford for the car not to look good as all it's rivals have stepped the game up IMO. Agreed though, a coupe version is a must. #longlivethreedoor
Having looked at a mk4 clio and a FR 172 next to each other the newer colour is a slightly darker/deeper colour to my eyes. Can't say if that is the case or the 172 had faded over time and lightened as some neglected reds tend to.
The MK4 RS is rumoured to be 1.6tce producing 260bhp with the aid of a 50bhp electric motor boosting it to 310bhp. And also said to be using the same EDC box as the Clio.
If this turns out to be true will most definately not be looking at the possibility of a MK4.. As said above i don't like the general shape of it. Looks like it will blend in an awful lot with every other hatchback type car on the road. Whereas i think the MK3 stands out a fair bit to what you see on every corner. They certainly catch my eye straight away on the rare occasion i actually see another RS. With the exception of the astra vxr/gtc as that looks to have copied it, quite similar lines
That said, the MK3 Megane had some very cimilar lines to the previous generation Astra Coupe (albeit smoothed out). I'll keep my options open regarding my next car. I love the look of the new Focus RS, but they're such a target for thieves that I'm not going to bother.
