Copes with it fine, my tracking is badly needing done thiugh after fitting the polybushes so it's a bit of a handful just now bit should be sweet once it's done
Decat, intake. Ecotune done it for me. Wouldn't waste my time or money going down to Leeds when I can get the same thing here. The fact that Stan spent a good while tweaking the map exactly for my mods speaks volumes. Wasn't just a flash then tweak AFR's like some do
What boost are you running? Still on the standard turbo? I'm taking mine to a place at Burton on Trent for some map tweaking. Only heard good things about them. Feel like I only got half a job at rstuning.
Your not the first person i have heard say that mate, People are so blinkered on here its laughable though. Stock turbo, 1.6 bar boost
Pretty much James, Could of pushed it to 1.7/1.8 bar but its only creating extra heat for no real gains tbh. Papps, It certainly pops and bangs more than it did before so i fully expect more flames
So today fitted discs and pads took front seats out, now on eBay fitted coilovers oil and filter air filter spark plugs prepped seat up for welding in tomorrow along with semi slicks going on this is on the Clio
Might have something to do with the rstuning cheer leaders. Any time a different tuner is mentioned they get shot down and say stick to what's known. Why go anywhere else? Just drive the 5000 mile round trip, it's worth it. It seems rstuning have a monopoly on the forum so can charge these ridiculous prices and get the fan boys to defend them.
Your mad. Why would you do that? It won't be as good you know. It will probably blow up first time on track. A lot of people go on about the Ktec tax but no one ever mentions the rstuning tax. Look forward to seeing your results MJ57.
But if your results are too good I will say the rollers are way out and get it checked at rs just to be sure.
Its like a 6hr round trip to RST so if the results are good with a tuner 30mins away im more than happy.
Have i missed something have rst done something wrong? i havent been there personally but from reading over the years everyone went there due to good results that didnt wreck the engine etc. im sure there are plenty of adequate tuners out there but say i bought a focus rs tomorrow, id go to 'the' place recommended by the focus boys as they have mapped 1000 focus vs the odd one by a local tuner
I went for a custom remap on the rolling road day. When my car was on the rollers apparently the clutch was slipping so couldn't run any more than 1.1 bar. I was outside so didn't see this and took their word for it. The clutch had never slipped before even though it was running 1.25 bar and hasn't slipped since at 1.4 bar. So something is wrong as I know a slipping clutch doesn't get better with age and higher boost. I was going to change the clutch and go back up but the more I think about it the more I feel like I was conned and if I took it back I would only be paying for something I should of already had.
The difference is you won't get "the place" as there are so many who the focus boys use. Here it seems to be rstuning or nothing.
All my mapping has been done elsewhere and when I forge and bigger turbo over winter I'll still use him, my mate who's less than 2 miles away he's with DNA tuning.. And if dna are good enough to run maps for entire national series and run cooks BTCC car Good enough for me.. and had another map does recently replace standard limiter with hard cut as standard was causing overboost issue and limpmoding me if I hit limiter.. Also boosted power a little but keeping torque down as I'm not forged yet.. but the hard cut sounds nice haha
soft cut limiter is where the ignition is retarded to slow the engine speed hard cut limiter is where ignition is cut stopping spark normally a soft cut happens 250rpm before a hard cut (less violent method) we removed the soft so it's more violent limiter now and under load flames quite abit similar thing is used for some Antilag systems as the unburnt fuel due to no spark ignites on hot manifold through turbo
Hahaha. I used a bee r limiter to give me the hard cut limiter on a previous car and raised the standard limiter so that didnt cut in before the bee r. Can't find anything similar to use on the megane.
Any custom remapper should be able to do it.. Say we only did it as a trial and error as couldn't figure what was causing my fault.. So thought remove limiter and put another and try that.. And it worked.. Gonna try limits of standard turbo now try get few bhp for next race meeting before I start a rebuild.. Hoping for close to 300bhp 300ftlbs but doubt it and anymore and I'll prob lose a conrod.. then go forged and gt28 twins scroll and get close to or over 400
