   about to collect my car saturday, the owner said he changed the battery to a new one and the head unit since hasnt turned back on - anybody got any ideas what this could be?

   Try disconnecting the battery for a few mins. Reconnect and try it again.

   Is it fully charged? i heard the radio can be the first thing to be disabled when the battery power isn't high enough, along with keyless entry.

   think radio is 10amp fuse near glove box under 2 elec window fuses if helps
