Hand fisted tyre fitters

  1. A while ago had fronts balanced and after refitting they torqued up rears now struggled to remove the 4 nuts but cant budge locking ones. Tried with my 18v impact, socket set not impressed. They weren't local so looks like need to go somewhere else with an airgun .
I only usually torque them up to 85 ft lbs not 200 ft lbs.:mad:

Don't go there, i've got a 197 in at the minute with a similar issue which i've sworn at (A F'n lot today). So far i've got 3 of 4 off but they also managed to destroy both removal keys AND damage the landings on the bolts... the last one is just not happening. I'm hoping a new key will allow the last one to spin off as it's not shifting (My Snap-On gun does 400lb/ft).

  3. Better to use a breaker bar to remove the locking bolts as the hammer action from the airgun destroys them. They probably destroyed them putting them on with the gun full speed.

  4. You struggle with stopping it slipping off thou:blush:

  5. two man job, using a long Snap on ratcheting bar. One bloke to apply pressure on the ratchet head so it doesnt slip, and the second bloke to gently apply force to budge it.

Those McGard style locks are a pain when they've been rattled on

  6. This ^^^

  7. what torque they supposed to be I normally do 80ft/lbs

  8. 130nm
