  1. Booked Javalin Aug !8,at Oulton, and 19Aug at Anglesea. My sister is coming as passenger. She has never done anything like this before.and she is 86 years old!. We will have a combined age of 161 years!. I am looking for a man or a woman, to walk round in front of us,with a Red flag!.

  2. Fair play! Never too old!

  3. Brilliant, never to old to have fun!

thats amazing - dont scare her too much!!!

    Good job!

  7. Never too old for a bit fun!

  8. Are you trying to finish her off?!! :tongueout:

  9. I explained what it was like(all being well!.), she is all excited. As she only weighs about 75LBS,weight shouldn't be a problem. I will have to take a cushion,so she can see over the dashboard!.

  10. Brilliant! Get some before and after pictures then we can judge how scared you made her :tongueout:

  11. i've been out in his car with him, she will be very scared :tongueout:

  12. I think it's a bad idea personally.

Get her health checked first. She could potentially die from this

  13. Bit morbid

  14. i know dude but it's quite possible

  15. Ive done a fair few track days, and she has been asking to join me for a long time. I have showed her Videos of cars round the track, and she cannot wait. I gave up Parachuting,(Too Old!.), so perhaps she has my genes. What is the phrase,,You are never too old.

  16. TBH you could drop dead from whatever, brain embolism/ aneurysm, deep vein thrombosis, stroke etc etc. When do you start checking your health before doing anything?
Should Arthur get checked before going out on track as he's 75?

IMO if its going to happen its going to happen nowt you can really do about it.
I'm sure if Arthur's sister didnt feel well enough to do it she wouldn't.

Also i'd hope he'd do a few warm up laps first before really going for it to ease her in a bit!

  17. Never truer words spoken!

  18. Id like to talk around the physiology of age but it would probably fall on deaf ears :worried: and the op would probably feel a sense of me being prejudice.

I do stand by my comment though.

  19. Hats off to you and your sister!

  20. Hi Brisa. I would defend you right to be prejudice, and it would not fall on deaf ears.( Well slightly deaf in one ear!.)We are all different, and what would seem OK to some people,is not to others. At 75 years old, people seem to think i should be driving an old Volvo, puffing on a pipe, and wearing a hat and coat. Unfortunately,i haven't grown up yet. My sister has already asked if she can come to two days at Spa next year!.

  21. Good on you Arthur. Although you should use Martins car as it will be slower

Seriously ? I know you have a medical background mate but that's a bit extreme.

You're only too old when your heart stops beating.

  23. Indeed Rob its extreme but sometimes really bad things have to be said to really get people thinking a bit. I do events with my brother and id like to think we can continue doing so till our later years. But I'm just trying to trigger some thought.

Ask yourself how many 86 year olds run the london marathon, How many of those actually finish? I don't know but its not because some 86s don't want to. I'm sure they do but they probably can meet the metabolic demand required to do so. Doing a track day as a passenger can be quite stressful. Ive be completely petrified by one of the BTCC drivers once. your heart rate rushes, your breathing increases.... but why? your not running the marathon but your body is under physiological stress.

If you cantmeet that your in trouble.

Im not saying that would happen indeed, she may be quite fit but a health check wouldnt be a bad idea... thats all I'm trying to portray

  24. Arthur sir I salute you, at 53yrs myself I thank you for making me feel very young, I wish you and your sister a great day , as for brisa's comments I think you could have been more tactile mate and less blunt, of course you are entitled to an opinion, its fantastic Arthur that your sister and yourself are living life and not afraid of it as some peeps in there 80's are very fit and very healthy and know what they are capable of, go for it my friend both of you have my respect

  25. Never too old !

  26. Fair enough mate. With all due respect to Arthur, he's no BTCC driver. His sister will be fine

Life's too short to worry about what could happen. Live each day like it could be your last.

  27. he's as fit as fiddle, drives within himself and loves his trackdays, my Aunt will love it, as someone said earlier, you don't know whats around the corner so enjoy life now. whats a medical going to tell you at that age? not too much to worry about i would think.

  28. On my driving ability....... I have overtaken many members on the Forums on track days..........OK OK!. They were on a slowing down lap,or broken down.

  29. If she got ure energy ull both be fine, Good look

  30. Arthur is great, last year at Spa it was wet but that did not stop him. Most do 15 min stints but Arthur was out for 45 mins at a time, Martin and I were chasing each other and overtook him like he was driving miss daisy but we only did 15 mins and like he said he came past on our cooling down lap, legend..

  31. I overtook Porsche, and many other supercars at Spa this year. OK OK. i was out in a guys 458 special at the time!.

  32. Arthur my man - you are a legend.

Nothing is safe, and life is to be lived and enjoyed, hope you both have a blast down at the track day.

I am sure you wouldn't have been that far behind them in your R26r, its the straights that are the problem.

  35. Brilliant Arthur, you go for it, he's a dam good safe driver, I had no problem in him taking my daughter round Oulton, your sister will be in good hands.

  36. I say take her cushion away, so the poor ol love cant see whats coming next, , lol. Fair play to you both, im just a meer lad of 60 and hope to still be doing track days for years to come.

  37. I hope you both have a fantastic day

cant wait to hear about it, have fun

  38. Hope you have a good day Arthur, keep it on the black stuff at Anglesey though

  39. Go for it, have a good one. I hope i`m like that at your age & not couped up in some home waiting for the Grim Reaper.

  40. Hi Arthur, If your sister enjoys it as much as Susie then "job well done". Hoping to see you there! Cheers. P & S. (Red Megane R26 at Spa) just in case your memory is going!!!
