R26r 'must have' spec

Discussion in 'Megane Discussion' started by mk2zetec, Jun 9, 2015.

  1. Looking at an r26r but it doesn't have the cage or titanium exhaust - do you think that will impact much in value?

  2. I could live without the cage but not the Ti. Not because of resale value although they do fetch more. It's all about the noise

  3. I'd still love one, probably won't ever bring myself to buy one (much like he Clio V6)

For or me it'd have to have the Cage and Ti but also have no radio. I don't know why but I've always felt there's no real need for a radio in the .R and it should be left as is and enjoyed as it was intended.

  4. Couldnt live without either tbh, for me the cage and ti make the car what it is. Have u been in a r26r before?

In my opinion of course and each to there own.

  5. I've got an r26 but nit been in an R
    i assume it's a lot more raw!

  6. Where abouts are u from bud? If u already have an r26 then a cage and ti is a deffo otherwise u may aswell justt strip urs out and fit bucket seats.

  7. Martin (Sunnylunn) will be along in a minute to tell you all about the differences between the two

  8. I've had both, having an R26.R with cage and Ti at the minute, I've had the R 3 years and still not board, their mega, yes there different but as Rob said Ti is a must

  9. R26R > R26. No matter how much money you chuck at it Steve

  10. Titanium exhaust is an absolute must have.

  11. Ti and cage or its not a proper .R!

  12. My mate might be selling his R. It's got, cage, Toyos, ti. Black with Red wheels, no Kerbing on any of the wheels. Currently on 31k.

  13. Don't forget the all important Lunar Grey paint.

  14. An R without the half cage and Ti will always fetch less money than a full spec car. If you look on Pistonheads, Autotrader etc the low spec cars always hang around for a long time but do sell eventually. If you're putting a lot of money into it then I would be tempted to hold out for the spec you want. It will also help when you come to sell as good spec cars, especially low mileage examples sell quickly.

  15. Got to have the TI and cage imo, its what makes them feel so special, and they do feel special, miss mine like mad : (

  16. I looked at an Exige, but my talent is lacking,so unless i win the Lottery,my R is staying. I did look for a Clio 200,with a Megane 250 Engine/Gearbox/Roll cage/300bhp +, but never came across anything suitable, and Martin showed me the error of my ways. Personally, having had a Standard Exhaust, and been in cars with the Ti,i rather like the Miltec, that i now have. There is always a debate about an R, or modifying a Standard R26, I feel both are fantastic, and the fact you can build a 300 BHP R26 to be quicker than an R?. Brilliant.

  17. Personally I would recommend you get the cage and Ti if at all possible, irrespective of resale values the two things just add to the drama of the car. The presence of the cage in the rear view mirror still makes me grin and for me is central to what the car is all about. The Ti exhaust amplifies the already ridiculous noise. If I had the option of loosing the cage and exhaust or one of the kids it would be a very tough choice, and not one that would have a good outcome

If you can, buy one it will exceed all your expectations.
