Will an R26 gearbox fit a 225, i have a slight problem with mine, it jumps out of sixth, not really worried but after yesterday's little outing i desperately need a limited slip diff,( traction control light flashing at 90 in third), not great. I have someone that will fix the gearbox fault and fit a LSD but if a R26 one fits it will be one out and one in
Cheers Gray I am very grateful to you, this forum is worth it's weight in gold, that is music to my ears, once i find a box i will only be off the road for a day or two
Taken from another post on this mate: "All r26's have a ndo 000 code but the one on top of the box has a 020 which is the LSD model. If you look underneath the ndo020 is also stamped into the box. That was a bargain as most do £600 upwards. Lee" The R26 box is ND0 020 mate, normal 225 Box ND0 000, Seen a few on ebay go for £750,as Gray said, they don't come up often though
I suspect a few of the RS specialists get the R26 boxes before they get advertised. Might be worth trying a few and seeing if they have any. I know SC Autoelectrics in Walkden get a few and may be willing to help you out. Alternatively you could get another 225 box and put a gripper diff in. Would cost a bit more though as I think the diff alone is £1100 BUT it does come with a lifetime warranty. It's also better for track than an R26/Quaife.
Yep, £1,066 down that route: http://www.trackfocusdirect.com/sho...late-limited-slip-diff-megane-225-250/7427060 Jonny at Track Focus Direct is active on this and a great guy to deal with, if you do chose to get a Diff and slap it on a 225 box I would give him a call to discuss.
Thanks for the advice guys. What do you think of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Quaife-AT...713?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item4628b81a49
JJC are a reputable trader for sure - so thats a good start - IIRC they do rsmegane members discounts on certain items if you email them directly - may be worth a shot
I had one fitted of these fitted into my SL55 (A lot more expensive) it was a massive improvement, these don't need special oil or running in
