Horn not working!!

  1. Hi,

    2007 230 F1

My horn has decided that its doesn't want to work anymore! - I have checked the fuse which is fine, so assuming its the horn unit itself!

First question: What's the part number for a genuine new horn?
Second question: Other than horn unit itself what else coudl possibly have failed? - Relay? Setting wheel ring?

Will have the bumper off this afternoon and chek im getting voltage at the horn wiring plug, just thinking ahead..

    Thanks,

    Henry

  2. I will add that all the cruise buttons work as they should, so hopefully not the clock ring? - Or does that not matter?

  3. Haha, I had this exact problem a couple of years ago and my car failed its MOT on it (pedantic bastard).

Turns out that the horns being mounted directly behind the front grill they are quite prone to rusting and seizing up. New horn comes in at about £50-60 from memory and should solve the problem.

You can pop out the front grills (either side of the Renault badge) to get access, and will avoid having to remove the bumper.

  4. To be honest the horns on these car are crap anyway I'm better of shouting out the window! :tongueout:

  5. I'm gunna larrap some WD40 through it (half a can or so) and see if that works before £45 to Reno! Haha, has worked for me before now!

  6. Scrap yard! I'm sure any old horn will fit, can only be a couple of spade connectors or a plug?

  7. Its a JT plug

  8. Its a two-tone horn, and mine failed on one of the horns at first. Apart from being so quiet the cyclists weren't even bothered, it sounded like postmans pat van! Even my gf was laughing at me :worried:

  9. Well, after pulling the connector and cleaning up the spades its works fine.

Never had that kind of luck with window regulators! Ha!

Cheap fix, so all is good!
