Hi guys. Got my r26 on Monday and noticed when the car is idling it seems really lumpy. Not sure if this is same in all but doesn't seen quite right. My only mods are Decat, middle box delete and remap apparently (I have no proof of this nor know where it was done) Thanks! Jake
Yeah it sound like it's about to stall, then fires up again if that makes sense? Are injectors a simple enough job? Will cleaning them fix it and if so what is recommended to clean them with? Cheers for the replies guys much appreciated!
Easy to take out and put back, they will need to be ultrasonic cleaned will cost around £50 a set be good as new just google somewhere local
Mrinjector.uk But be warned - I'm getting reports that these injectors are a shit design, wear, and don't keep good flow rates etc. So may not be salvageable even after a clean.
http://www.k-tecracing.com/show_product.asp?id=4819&appid=12 £58.80 each on there. To be honest, if you're planning on keeping the car for a while, I would suggest changing all 4 rather than cleaning, or just replacing 1. If ones going the other surely won't be far behind. Quick question though - are you sure it's injectors? Have you had any lights or error messages up, even if they later go out?
Tbh i don't think its the injector design I reckon its down to no serviceable fuel filter, i was contemplating adding one in somewhere, but have more pressing issues at the mo! I've never heard of any duff ones after a clean, a few thousand miles later they may go again but that could happen with new ones IIRC i remember reading a thread where someone was on stage 2 and the injectors kept going on that every 5-10k but they were running over 100% duty cycle i think.
I'm not sure if it is injectors or not. My car knowledge is very limited! The only light I've got on is abs, tc and the spanner which is all down to an abs sensor apparently. It occasionally looses power for a few second when driving at low revs. Is that related to anything?
Stuck a new set in my 225 a month or so back and made a big difference to the idle.. didn't look like they'd been changed for a while when I took the old ones out... much easier than changing them on my old 172 !
