Anyone tried Bluefin on a 265 ?

  1. Anyone recommend or not ?

  2. There's a group buy thread on the go for custom remaps at RS Tuning in Leeds mate - so close to you, and would get you £50 off a custom map from them....

  3. Bluefin maps are proven to run dangerously lean on the mk3 Meganes. Superchips refuse to accept this despite several members providing solid evidence from independent dyno runs/AFR readings all consistently faulty.

Go for Henks RS tuner box or custom map even better.

  4. If you get an rs tuner don't buy second hand for some reason he said you need to but it brand new. Plus for me anyway I only got 1 reply from 10 emails

  5. very odd that rory, cos I bought Ben_r1 off him second hand mate and henk sold me a licence and map no problem , once ben told him he sold it to me, and answered all my emails within a few days. cant understand why you had probs bud.

  6. His kit is so cheap now ya better off with new anyway once you add up the licence and re-map and buying 2nd hand box.

  7. I'm running a blufin stage 2 map on my cup 250 and not had any problems with it.

I brought the car with it on, when I rang them to get more info they were spot on. Can't complain at all.

Phoned rd tuning about a map once I've changed the cams and turbo. A young lad answered the phone and didn't really sound interested in dealing with me. So decided I'll look elsewhere where for a custom map when the time comes.

  9. Thats cos they are good.

If the worst there is , is one persons perception of someone not sounding interested then they are doing ok.

  10. oh yeah andy is one of there greatest admirers lol

  11. I had my Clio mapped at RS tuning it was never the same after.........even had to turn around on my way home and go back on the rollers and he forgot to map out my emissions light.......

    I won't be going back

  13. Just cruising home after I couldn't sit at a constant speed for any longer than roughly 3-5mins and the car would develop a severe missfire and 'bog down' if you like, would need to change down a gear build up the revs again and it would clear. Couldn't pin point it on the rollers, everything was new, plugs, coils etc. Anyway, drove home and the day after the emissions light came on as I was running full decat which I thought was strange as it was meant to of been mapped out. Turns out when he checked if he had done it, he never. So now I had an intermittent misfire and the light on in the dash. Money wasted.

Went about trying to sort the issue myself, refitted one cat to see if it would cure both problems but all it did was put the light out, I still had the misfire. What a pain. Had a Renault tech plug it in and all seemed well, tried resetting fuel trim blah blah blah nothing worked. So final solution was to flash the ecu back to standard as a last ditch attempt to see if that did the trick and by this point I was at the end of my tether with it so we flashed it.........hey presto, problem solved. Not sure what he did, or if he was having a bad day but it wasn't right.

  14. Blimey mike what a bother, don't tell me you travelled all the way from Scotland too?? see that's what I love about my henk map and the software to monitor what the car does on the road or on the track and then put it on the lappy to check it out, real life driving n logging and of course I can put on and take off the map as many times as I want, especially handy for warranty issues:smile:

  15. Yea I did! Me and a mate, he had his R26 mapped the same day which he had no bother with to be fair. Just my experience wasn't good which is enough for me not to go back. Handy being able to see what's going on!

  16. Know what, think I'm going to leave it standard, love it so much dont want to spoil it. These reviews dont give me confidence. These things must give out more than 265, comparing it to how my 320bhp escort cosworth was. (not intimating it has that sort of power by the way) Its so bloody quick.

  17. Most of them (265) make between 280-290bhp standard. Pretty good out the box.

That's why I'm sticking with my blufin. If I get any problems. Less than 5 minutes and I'm back to standard again.

  19. Can't fault RS tuning, Paul and Specky top guys and know the score when it comes to mapping these things.

  20. I would rather cut my dick off with a rusty coke can than run a map from superchips.

    RS-Tuning ftw.

  21. To be honest everytime I've dealt with RS tuning I find them very rude on the phone, never bother calling back and don't seem to have any time for my custom so I never bothered taking the trip up there.

Cant deny their results and reputation but customer service could be better. I suppose when you have such a following you don't need to bother keeping every single customer happy.

  22. If only you guys had the option of getting an Xcede Performance map for the 265. Very very good software. Revlimit ECU Tuning also vey good. Thats just some options we have in SA. RSTuning has serious competition this side.

I would imagine it does feel quite quick compared to your EsCos as it won't have the losses a 4WD system has. I know when mine was mapped it had the pace of Evo's/Impreza's running 330+bhp

  24. Is this on every Mk3 that's had a bluefin map?

  25. Search the forum, lots of info on it mate. Best bet is to get it checked if in doubt

  26. On the ones that have gone on to be dyno'd yeh, seen someone try one on a Clio too and lose 30-40hp.

The main issue is the AFR though, at least if you get it done on an RR they can check the AFR before and after and check it's within safe margins. I know for instance that mine was running quite rich below 4k rpm and quite lean above that, post remap it's now within a safer margin throughout the rev range.
