R26 2008 Cabasse amp

Discussion in 'Electrical & Interior - Security, ICE, Wiring Loom' started by Nunez20, May 1, 2015.

  1. Hi, looked online but every thread says something different; it has a 6cd Cabasse system but I just want to know where the amp is before I start taking the car apart

  2. Had this with mine mate... its in the boot (small compartment on the right hand side) Looks like its a CD player with a blank fascia on it!!

    Cheers,

    Tom

  3. Thanks, trying to sort a aux wire out, tried to pull the head unit but it was caught on something, stupidly pulled it a bit and now the cd changer does not work!! So need a cd changer removal key to sort it

Will find that guide to wire a aux lead in

  4. Haha. Mate just get rid of it. Easier. mine broke after me having the car for 6months. Just never turned on. Lol... It's a bit poo anyways!

  5. That's was my plan to get a double din but read that there is no connections at the back of the unit so it's hard to wire a new unit in

  6. You sure it's not in the front? I've read the 2008+ cars have the amp in the update list at the front.

  7. Why don't you plug whatever it is you want to run through the CD changer connection?

  8. Cd changer connection? I just want to get my iphone with an aux in.

It's a 2007 car will check in the back tomorrow to see if it's there. I need to take the front out anyways as something is caught on the back of the head unit and now thr changer is not working, ordered the tool to take out the changer and then hopefully once that's out the head unit will come out then as it's stuck at the moment and won't pull out

  9. Do you have a carbasse audotorium updatelist and a 6CD changer underneath?

If so it's possibly the fly lead from the changer holding he head unit back.

In terms of what I've said, you can remove the connection of the CD changer and plug in a Connects2 to run the iphone via Bluetooth:

What I'm struggling with is where the connection is. In that I think standard updatelist and tuner list head units have all the connections at the amp which is built into the head unit. Then I've read that the carbasse has it's amp unit in the boot. So I assume the connections are there too! Only way to know is by taking the head unit out.

  10. The cd changer is in the dash not under the seat

  11. The cd changer is in the dash not under the seat and the update list isnt the cd changer version

I was thinking you had the same as my setup

  14. Yes it looks like that, I can see where the cd changer is it's the amp I am looking for

With that connect2 does it stop the CD changed working? As on that site it says plug into the original changer port. Not that's that is an issue

  15. Yes, you'll loose the six stack CD changer. My logic is that most of the music would come from the phone but you can still play a CD through the single head unit so not a complete loss. You'd lose power to the six stack though so it wouldn't illuminate with the dash.

Having not pulled the head unit out I can't say if the connects2 will connect to the back of the head unit or if the connection would be elsewhere (boot?).I'm thinking that even the connects2 must run through the amp first.

  16. Its above the changer, all the unit is under the seat in the later models is a amp/headunit. Which is what the update list unit is.

  17. Thanks although I'm confused by that answer.

I've a 2008 with a update list carbasse. Do is the unit above the changer or elsewhere? It's definitely not under the seat.

  18. The one you have wont have the headunit under the seat or in the boot. Its the top half of the stereo, the pic ive posted is the one with seperate underseat/boot head unit.

  19. Brilliant, thanks
