  1. cant make it on that day mate .. need to stick to weekends really .. is that the day with javelin for £99 ? bargain too

and I've got lots to do to the car over the next few weeks :tongueout: so might not be ready

  2. Get it done! Though I couldn't live with all the time! Enjoy German comfort far too much.

Would love to drive knockhill looks like a great circuit. Just too far!!

  3. Yeah, we were going to book the Sunday 26th but saw this crop up so hard to say no for £70 less. What's next for yours?

  4. With the trackday at Cadwell on Sunday I spent a bit of time making sure the car is all ok, fluids fine, tyres all ok etc. Rear pads were getting low so ordered some new pads and will try and fit them on Tuesday night if I get chance.

Also grabbed this wheel of Dave due to him returning the car to standard. All the credit goes to him and Jade Developments for the artwork that is the quick release boss etc.

Quite easy to fit with the sparco horn kit as well. Took about and hour to strip it down and fit it all which wasn't too bad with a bit of a hangover.

    So stripped down...

    And with the boss fitted

I joined the sparco horn kit into the exisiting wiring for the horn to utlise the plugs, soldered and heat shrinked.

    And fitted to the boss.

Attached the quick release to the wheel.

And finished (apart from the cowling)

Airbag squib is making the odd noise so looks like it's on its way out so need to replace that at some stage. I also need to work out a way to mount and wire the cruise control buttons back in (away from the wheel as indont want even more buttons) as I use it a lot.

Also fitted an unpainted/coated strut brace that also came from Dave via Steve on here. Just need to decide on the route I'm going with the interior before having it painted.

Also found these videos from RST when it was mapped also.

Progress will probably slow (though the track action will continue) for a bit now as work is manic, I'm relocating and starting to seriously consider swapping in the work horse for a younger model.

  5. Great thread! Love the MOs too!

How are you getting on with the BCs and NS2R tyres? What spring rates are you running? Did you get the camber setup and is tyre wear ok?

  6. I've only had my R26 a week and can't wait to get it on track. Good thread

  7. They aren't MO's . They are technomagnesium, they do look very similar!

BCs are great. Running 7kg all round. Miles better than cooksports on the road and track but would still with the cooksports if 90% of your driving is on the road. The adjustment is a massive plus and does make a difference being harder or softer etc to help dial them in though you can get too focused on it. It's due (read overdue) to get a full geo setup but I mirrored another megane that was pretty much identical and its worked so far in the interim.

Tyres in the 120 compound are good. Comparable to the federal RSRs. Once I got my tyre pressures and damper settings right they were a lot better than my first outing on track with them.

  8. Cheers. Sole reason for buying one as they are so capable. Get a day booked and enjoy it!

  9. Never heard of them before, just looked them up now! They do look very similar!

Ok cool. I've been given a delivery date for my ASTs but just in case they never appear BCs are my next choice.

Better than the RSRs at all? The reason I ask is I've tried both RSR and AD08R before and found the AD08R much better, but they are a lot more expensive than the NS2R.

  10. So went to Cadwell yesterday. Started out particularly wet and feared the worst as it was raining heavily all the way there. Weather forecast changed and was due to get better. In the end it couldn't have got much better and by 11am it was bone dry.

This was my first time driving at Cadwell and I loved it. So much variety, seriously recommend it to anyone.

After a few trackdays in the Megane I am really starting to learn the car and how to compensate for changes etc and got the damper settings and tyre settings pretty much bang on straight away (though it surprises me how hard you have to run these Nankangs at 32 cold in the fronts) As my confidence grew at Cadwell and as it dried up the pace increased. Not that its about timings (not that I was timing....) Quickest lap was a 1.48.7 which I was content with. Unfortunately the car charger was playing up so didn't get too much chance to experiment here and I didn't get a video for that lap.

Again the performaned really faultless all day, I guess it's a testament to spending money on parts to help reliability.

Here's some pictures from the day and a video from my 3rd quickest lap of the day. Comments welcome from those experienced with Cadwell on lines etc.

(missed gear change left in there for comedy value)

Thanks to Dave for the pics.

Next plans are to flush engine oil, brake fluid, New rear pads, swap tyres around and just make sure everything else is running ok after two hard trackdays recently.

As mentioned progress is going to slow so other than some more bushes and consumables it's pretty much going to stay like this for a while.

  11. Looking good mate. Car was very quick yesterday. Hope your spine has recovered from the drive home.

  12. Great track isn't it?! Look to get back there a couple more times this year. Just booked Anglesey for the 4th of June as there's a group of us in Wales that week.
Car looks spot on.....nankangs perform ok? What temp did you run hot?

  13. Yeah I loved it. Heard someone refer to it a the 'mini ring' and I could relate to that. Got another 4 tracks that I deffo want to do this year but will be back at Cadwell no doubt.

This day was the most impressive I've seen with these tyres. They were worlds apart from before and the blisters and lumps of rubber were proof of that. There were 3 lads I knew there on R888's and they had a tad less understeer and you could tell as they didn't squeal as much as mine (not that mine were bad) but question whether spending twice as much was worth it.

Not sure what they were hot but cold at Oulton I ran them 29/26 and Cadwell I ran them at 32/28 and they were a lot better with similar track temperatures. The Nankangs like a really high pressure by the looks of things as they were Sat on the tyre indicators at the those temps.

  14. Interesting mate, think I ran mine too low at cadwell last. Remember you and Dave saying about the arrows on edge of tyre relating to tyre pressure. I will try 32 30 cold and just leave them I think, obviously checking throughout the day. Noticed at cadwell they were squeezing quite a bit which I'm guessing is because pressures were slightly low.
    Cheers for info again mate.....

  15. It does depend on a number of factors mate. Track temps, quality of surface, damper settings, tyre brands etc. I mean I ran barely any additional dampening on mine 10 clicks on the front and softest on the rear. The lads that I were with were running from 26-27 (compared to my 32) psi cold in their 888s so it's all about experimenting to what suits and on the particular day they were spot on with hard pressures.

Squealing tyres means that your understeering but that could be from tyres being too soft/dampers too hard or the otherwsy around and tyres too hard/dampers too soft. I would always start at a happy middle ground (like I did, (dampers on softest alround and tyres at 29/27) and tweak either way and settle on what seems best on the day.

Deffo keep an eye on the markers as they will help you fine tune your pressures.
