White car, best results..

  1. Finishing with wax or sealent??

  2. swissvax glacier.

  3. I'd say its down to your personal choice. If you can give both a try over time and see what you like best. I use both as and when the mood takes me.

  4. As spooky has said. I use both and a different one every time. See which takes your fancy. At the min I'm loving sealants. I find them less fussy than wax's.

  5. I usually wax mine and then top up once or twice in between with sealer.

  6. I thought wax had to complety be off the car before you could put sealent on?

  7. You can put wax on top of sealant but the other way round is self defeating.

  8. It tops up the beading/protection that's all that I'm worried about. Can't see how it's self defeating when it helps prolong the protection

  9. Thanks guys

  10. Sealant on light colours and wax on dark colours.

  11. Could try that Fusso 99 that everyone is banging on about.

  12. I generally find the prep work for a sealant is more work because you want a squeaky clean surface for it to bond to, this will maximise its durability. I try to do 3/4 major details a year that will take about 2 days to do & use a sealant, Zaino is current fav'. Then for the rest of the year i may top up with say Z8 but get to a point where i start putting on wax. Currently cocking around with a layer a CC white and then a layer of AF illusion.

  13. As SpookyZeus say, down to a bit of personal preference, both can work well on white.

When I had my white R26, Werkstat Prime and Jett worked best for me, looked fantastic with that combination, I also recently did my wife's frozen white Fiesta with Auto Finesse Tough Coat and that worked well too.

Sealants are very much 'in' at the moment, but I've recently gone back to using a wax on my 250, for a change as much as anything, plus I enjoy working with wax a little more too. Current combination on my Oyster 250 is Auto Finesse Essence, topped with Auto Finesse Illusion, I love Illusion.

Having said that, fancy trying a Gyeon sealant soon.

  14. On mine I've got 2 coats of Auto finesse Illusion on top of a coat of triple and tough coat and I love it

  15. Nice, Illusion is so easy to apply and definitely adds that something extra to the finish. Durability isn't that great, but as expected I guess as it is a 'show wax'.

  16. Ed is bound to cast his eye over this so always interested to hear what he'd recommend for us enthusiasts, bearing in mind the ease of application and budget?

  17. I know you're not having a go I was just stating it's not pointless. That link confirms there is no problems applying a sealant on top of a wax after a maintenance wash.

  18. Poorboys do a glaze for dark cars - blackhole which works wonders for creating a great shine and White diamond for lighter coloured cars which I assume does the same.

In in terms of whether you should use a wax or sealant it Depends on the quality of the wax, but I generally find sealants easier and quicker to apply and while they give a shine a good wax gives a deep wet glossy shine that's nicer. Just my opinion tho

  19. I use black hole and like pagey says it gives a really nice finish, I also put poorboys nattys blue paste over the top and it looks awesome after!

  20. Is nattys paste like a wax or is it a mixture of sealant and wax. What's it like to work with

  21. Sorry for the slow reply, its a wax mate easy to work with, they do a liquid version too that's even easier goes on and comes off really easy regardless if it's hot or cold.

  22. Eh?

  23. I'd personally use a sealant

  24. Another vote for sealant. Will do a detail write up on mine to demonstrate but suggest fk1000p or zaino or fusso

  25. Can't wait to try the new CG white Hybrid, followed by CG white wax and then topped with CG V7 just to see what that looks like.
Do enjoy trying new products.

  26. Be interested to hear your thoughts on this, quite like a lot of the CG's stuff

  27. Yeah I find the stuff I've tried from them ok, already tried the CG white wax and seems ok. Waiting to hear when they'll get the White light hybrid in but find them a bit useless when it comes to email, will have to call them.

  28. Agree with you there, I find their customer service pretty poor. I actually got my last few CG's bits from Clean Your Car, rather than direct from CG UK.

  29. Just called they guy at CG UK and recons new stock should be in the end of next week. Also mainly use CYC but found they don't stock all the CG stuff, plus being lazy I posted a question on detailing world to them a week ago and the never answered, need to clearly call them also!

  30. That's one of the things I personally like about Auto Finesse, their customer service is absolutely first class, nice people too, Polished Bliss are also very good.
