Does your 250 reach maximum boost RS monitor?

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by jamesbeaumont, Apr 17, 2015.

  1. Just wanted to see if others find they don't always achieve full boost on the RS monitor. Torque, power, throttle etc all do but only occasionally will boost reach the end of the bar.

    Is this normal?

  2. Mine did but it was mapped at 1.5bar and the monitor only went up to 1.4 IIRC?

  3. Does the monitor actually measure boost or does it just display a product of throttle input and rpm?
I'll be getting my car mapped soon and will be interested to see if I get more boost.

As stated above the full boost on the monitor is 1.4bar so on a standard car it is normal to not always fill the bar ( the monitor is not totally accurate anyway). Once mapped car will peak boost higher than the monitor so will then fill the bar on the display.

  5. Thanks mate, just the answer I was looking for!

  6. i thought it wasn't a direct display.. it was a calculation/interpretation based on the amount of throttle and that even if the car was remapped it would still show the same!!

I thought it was via ecu but either way mine Fills the bar on the display and much quicker with mapped setup.

  8. Pretty sure it must be an actual reading as before my map it didn't fill the gauge but did after.

  9. You might find it fills all bars some days cos of ambient air temperature being colder so colder air is thicker and better for holding boost

  10. ^^ As above I have noticed this on mine also. Mine is totally standard atm. And notice sometimes it only goes to about 3/4 of the way up and occasionally you do see it go full. Never understood why haha.
