that time of year again when she needs a service. so far my shopping list looks like so, but i have a quick question on the G/Box fluid: Fuchs Titan Race Pro S 5W-40 Ester Synthetic Engine Oil -6 Litres Oil Filter Pollen Filter Motul RBF 660 Factory Line race brake fluid -1.5 Litres Motul Motylgear 75w-80 Synthetic gearbox oil -2 Litres also will be getting magnetic plugs (just for the hell of it) however i've read about the Castrol Syntrax G/Box fluid being "The Best" however i can only find it in 75W-90 ... is this recommended and does anyone run this? also what are the implications of running thicker gearbox oil?
I replaced my brake fluid with ATE Blue and used 1 ltr. I bought 2 Ltrs to be safe mind. I used 2.5 ltrs approx the other night when I changed my gearbox oil. I bought 3 ltrs. I used Fuchs SAE Syntofluid Mine is a 250 BTW.
well all the fluids ordered. found that i had 1 litre of gearbox fluid left over from the last change 18 months ago so only bought 1 litre of that stuff. ended up changing a few of the bits: 6 litre ELF oil (from Renault) ATE TYP 200 1 litre (which is what was used last time) went for this stuff because i've only heard great things about it and for the price (£14) it's about half the price of the Motul stuff. i also bought some Magnetic gearbox and oil sump plugs too... i know they don't do much in terms of protecting the engine but hey i'm a sucker for useless gadgets (also bought one for my bike) lol so all in all about £100 for all the bits... not too bad.
