R26 Gear Gaiter Surround

Discussion in 'Electrical & Interior - Security, ICE, Wiring Loom' started by Benno, Apr 11, 2015.

  1. So, it seems some of the clips on my silver gear gaiter surround have snapped off and every time I shift into reverse, it pops out. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement one? I've searched ebay with no success, as all I can find is the gaiter itself. I could get a new R26 one from renaultpartsdirect but it's nearly £50. Would it be possible to get a cheaper normal megane mk2 one from my local dealer?

    Cheers

    Ben.

  2. Ditto m8, if you get success let us know

  3. Ebay. Most Renault Megane ones are the same

  4. I'm breaking a megane but i'm in the Netherlands so postage would be €25

  5. You'll probably find new ones are black not silver. £50 is a bit steep though I think I paid £30-40 from ads

  6. After further searching on ebay, I've managed to find a used one from a 1.6 megane. It was £17.95 with free P&P and it's silver, I'll report back when it arrives.

  7. Gaiter and surround arrived today, it's the right size and colour and all of the clips are intact as well. Very happy overall, ebay is definitely the way to go  Haven't fitted it yet but should be fairly straightforward.

  8. Here's a picture of it

  9. Must be a different colour in the r26. Mine is gloss black in the 225!

There's a carbon fibre cover for it in the process of being made, I'm awaiting the first one to test it and get some pics. It will bond to the original though not a direct replacement.

I'm working on him making some meg spats! Watch this space!

  14. What are spats? Lol

  15. ok they are a small plastic fitting that go on the end of skirts and just around the wheel arch, that guy does them in carbon, a lot of megs get deep scatches there from the stones of the wheels, handy way to hide them instead of a respray I guess...go to gavins link above the .uk one and look below at the other ads and you will see a clio one mate

  16. Ahhh okie dokie I know what you're on about now

  17. OMG I want those spats for my Megane SOOOOOO much. I must have NOW!!!

Trouble I'm having with getting the spats made is that the guy needs an original part to mould too or copy, he doesn't own a Megane, how can I get a mould of the rear wheel arch section? Fibreglass it?

The Clio and Astra ones were moulded to the side skirts but it's not like he can buy one or a pair to mould to as they done have any.

  19. cling film and fibre glass

    That'll work!

  21. Could you not lend him the car for a little bit for him to work on? If he'd like he can have mine?? Cheeky

  22. This size or OE size?

What do we think to that style, or would you prefer carbon versions of the clear sticker?

  26. I like both of them. But think the clear ones would work better on more colours

  27. I think id prefer the carbon ones but they are pretty small. I'm having my stone chips sorted hopefully within the next couple of weeks ready to fit something like them but the chips do go along way up further than the carbon ones will protect.

  28. sod it for the price I think I will just get some carbon or colour wrap and do it myself

Any more news on the carbon one?

  30. The prices seem good, would he be interested in making B pillars and mirror covers
