250 Forge IC vs OEM IC

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by Guilledippolito, Apr 15, 2015.

  1. Hello, i have a question about this, because i put in my car RS250 Forge IC and it has not improve.
Add to this some kind of delay when i puso the gas pedal.
I have Loba360 + down Pipe + exaust 3" Inox + Etuners hibrid map, Forge diverter and wastegate Forge
    Any help please?
    Thanks Guys!

  2. Larger Intercooler will give lag but you shouldn't really be able to notice it, what's an etuner? Sometimes when you uprate parts like exhaust, turbo etc the ecu cannot compensate, hence the car starts struggling and feels crap which is why you need to get it mapped preferably on a dyno. Is that etuner set up for your mods?

  3. What do you mean by, it has not improved?

On short runs you won't notice any difference at all using the Forge IC (I just fitted the K-Tec IC on mine). The few degrees of inlet temp you shave off with the bigger IC is so marginal in terms of horsepower, that it is only measurable on the dyno (and even that is questionable, unless you do a lot of runs consecutively).

The only place where you will see real benefits is on the track, running hard for lap after lap. As a daily driver, there is really no point in fitting it as inlet temperatures while cruising or small bursts of acceleration will see you only a few degrees (maybe 2-5°C) lower than with the stock IC. And this is a negligible effect.

The only reason I fitted is was because of looks (you may call me dumb on that :tongueout: ), but I really didn't expect any performance gains whatsoever. I hope you didn't have any high hopes either..

Regarding the lag, honestly, I think it is in your head to say it bluntly. The volume of air the turbo actually pumps out is immense and the IC itself has very little volume for air by itself. Unless you fit an IC the size of the radiator and huge thickness, there should be no effects you would be able to perceive. I haven't noticed any change at all with my K-tec IC regarding pickup/lag.

  4. Agreed with the above comments.

How do you mean it's not improved?

I'm running an Airtec FMIC with RSTuning stage 1 map. Inlet temperatures are a few degrees cooler under normal driving conditions and much healthier on track. Due to the map, I have no lag to speak of.

Sounds like your map might be the issue.

  5. Did you only get this lag after fitting the new intercooler?

  6. I know they aren't that much use on the road but even driving on a hot day I've pictures of the oem IC reading 56 degrees inlet temps just driving normally and having parked up a minute or two.

The Airtec (same as what ktec sell they just call it their own) IC I have needs ambient to reach at least 10 degrees outside before it'll even register on the dash and then I've never see it get beyond 30 iirc. It's got to help the car breath better over all and that's not even on track.

  7. Thanks for your opinions, may be the map or leakage of pressure not yet meeting. with respect to the map, I have sent mail to Paul de RSTuning but for me it is very expensive since there is no way to put the map in my car, is only your RSTuning cable as living in Argentina is complicated me. why I have a map Etuners for turbo Hibrid mail I received it and install wired MPPS. when I give pressure, doing very cute! but an error P0234 overpressure turbo, plus the check injection and antipolution appears. Thanks Guys, if anyone can comment me something, be welcome.

  8. Henk at fastchip is very well renowned too, especially for remote mapping, damn site cheapper than rstuning too

  9. I will contact him, Thanks.
I have been watching intercooler and multiple losses presure but found nothing https://vimeo.com/125044316

  10. Have you tried putting soapy water around the pipes where they join the intercooler? It's the easiest way to spot a leak IMO
