Shamelessly stolen from another forum which also stole it from PH LOL

I quite fancied a go at the Pistonheads £100k challenge, but didn't fancy having my thoughts posted on PH and commented on my twats. If they were published at all.

So I ripped it off and stuck it up here. Hopefully others will join in... Building my list was pretty good fun.

So the rules... You've got £100k to spend on vehicles. So head to the classifieds (any), make your choices, share the links and prices. Most importantly, explain why you chose what you chose. I think it is fine to be a tad creative, but the prices need to be realistic and for a car that you would actually buy... If you want a low milage minter in a nice colour, that is the money that you need to spend, you can't get that nice car for the price of a dinged up brown heap.

You can have a little grace on the budget... 5% overspend which is an amount that you could haggle off or hold out for a bargain.

If you want to mod the car, you best do that out of your £100k.

    R26.R - 18k
    renault-renaultsport-megane-S1591696-3.jpg
I really like my Megane but it just isn't mental enough at the moment so seeing as there is little chance of being able to pick up a Trophy-R anytime soon the older R26.R shall do, Ti Exhaust, Plastic windows and a half cage. Probably be a weekend and occasional track toy and something semi comfy for Euro trips.

    535D Touring - 12k

Day to day load lugger and potential tow car? Probably have it mapped to stupid torques and for a bit more fuel consumptions

    Elise 111S - 16k
    lotus-elise-s2-111s-S1637607-2.jpg

It's an Elise, I've always wanted one since seeing one when i was a lot younger. Something about them i don't know what though. Simplify, Add lightness.

    650bhp R32 GTR -£18.5k
    nissan-skyline-r32-S1636612-2.jpg

I have always been a fast/powerful Jap car fan, For me the R32 GTR is the ultimate and is a bit of a cult car now, Values on them are only going to go up now IMO so it would be a bit of an investment as well. Maybe not one as highly modded mind you, Im sure a cheaper, near standard clean one would be better but the thought of a big power Skyline has massive appeal for me.

    205 GTi - 2.5k
    peugeot-205-gti-S1632091-2.jpg
Yes it will probably kill me but being a Hot Hatch fan this is for me where my passion for quick FWD shopping cars began, I think i was 10 when i first got to experience my first "performance" car, Which was a 1.9 Miami Gti and it felt like a rocket ship. Slow by todays standards but good, simple honest fun can be had with them. A classic dare i say?

    Impreza STI WRX - 10k

I stand by the opinion that if you want to get from A-B as quickly as possible in the UK, In Uk weather with our wonderfully maintained roads then something 4WD is the way to go, Slightly more in your face than an Evo say but i do love the flat 4 burble even with the image that they have.

    E46 M3 - 8k

To me the M3 is still one of the iconic cars of my lifetime, Regardless of how many people have them. I would probably set aside around 10k to make it as best as i could with some choice modifications

Finally since i still have a bit left over
    MX5 - 2k

I think this would just be the thing that go used and dumped places without having to care that much about it, Nothing overly special yet would still bring a smile to your face with the roof down looking like a hairdresser....

I could probably do another with only a couple of cars, Something cheap and sensible to run about in, Probably like the BMW and something a bit "more" Like a 997 GT3.

You got me excited in thinking that exact Elise was for sale! I just went looking, you bastard. :worried:

It was when i originally done that post mate! It was a perfect spec though and i love it in that colour

  4. Some good choices there mate, I would have to have a Supra in there somewhere!

Bugger! I'd be on my way to buy it if it was still for sale.

  6. Some good choices.

Did the Scoob STi a while ago and now doing the E46 M3 (10k+ for a good one now).

Only one I would disagree with is the Elise as I have been in both a VX220 and an Exige and found them way too claustrophobic - not a good reason I grant you but this is why I would not have one on my list. Also, getting in and out at my age is not very elegant

  7. Elise's and similar sized sports cars always have many previous owners for a reason, the novelty soon wears off!!!

  8. Thought I'd give this a go..

    £20,000 - E92 M3 - http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201503171805064/usedcars?logcode=visc

Doesn't need much explaining.. phenomenal V8, more than fast enough and a gorgeous chassis to boot. Serious road car which I'd love as a daily runner due to the little miles I drive. I'd tack on a 3 year warranty on this bad boy for the peace of mind. For this class of car, I'd prefer an MC Stradale, but I need to leave some budget for other cars

    £11,000 - Mini Cooper S JCW GP
    - http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classif...stcode/sn128fd/usedcars/radius/1500?logcode=p

Guilty (or not so guilty) pleasure of mine. Not big on the styling, but would love this as a cheeky track weapon and the odd Sunday blatmobile.

    £25,000 - Porsche 911 Carrera 2 S - http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classif...arlynew,new/channel/cars/keywords/S?logcode=p

Again, little explanation needed.. What cars these are. Would take the 2 over the 4, purely for enjoyment (not to denounce the 4 in any way by saying that)

    £38,000 - BMW 1 Series M Coupe - http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classif...el/cars/engine-size-cars/3l_to_3-9l?logcode=p

Beautiful, fast, sounds phenomenal and have the guarantee of a superb resale value.. potentially will just appreciate over the course of ownership. Guaranteed joy.

The remaining £6,000 would have to go into insuring them all I think... :tongueout:

Chavtastic I know, but having just had a drag race against one in the 275 Trophy, expected to easily beat it but it was 10 foot off the back bumper at 135 leptons. Private road of course. Land Rover test drivers hint that this is also the best Range Rover off road too, due to the dimensions. Just don’t tell the full fat rangie owners. This is the do it all car – fast, comfortable, practical, safe – what’s not to like? 505bhp/460lbft ffs!

£95k all in. To be honest, the first two cars would do it for me and I don’t know when I would ever drive the other ones.

  10. Alright guys - here's my choices....

First off the bat, and the only thing that I think I'm craving badly would be an open top driving experience, even though it wouldn't see so much use up here ....

Sadly even modern Z4s etc are too small for me and the brow of the windscreen is right bang in the line of sight, so its always going to have to be a boxter, for some reason 987 caymans/boxters have much more room and a better seating position for my size.....

As this is fantasy as well we can foget about the gen 1 987 engine issues
SO I've gone for a late gen 1 with a lariy interior - that sealed the deal, always fancied a yellow cerbera with a purple interior when I was 12 so this scratches that itch ever so slightly interior wise haha. 2.7 isn't an option due to the 5 speed box; this is enough to have lesiure drives in the evenings and weekends and maybe a bit of commuting, its a german car afterall.

    1. Porsche Boxter S: £22k 58 plate 29k miles: sports chrono, pasm, sport exhaust, manual, red leather

One thing that has been really playing on my mind recently is what it would feel like to be in a clio when I was enjoying a good blast on very tight windey roads....so after the boxter this was the next must..

Given we've got 100k I've just gone for the easy option and picked a Trophy, its a very high miler but as we're rich we don't give a fuck - this one is standard, prob the way I would keep it. This was only 3.8k.....me and my bro were kinda close to buying a cheap 182 together a few months ago as a little project, so this is something I would love

    2. RenaultSport Clio Trophy, £3,800, 111k

Next was time to be a little sensible and get a 4 door saloon, initially I tried to be sensible but then I woke up: Time for a scooby, my bro owned a P1 for a number of years and the first ever footage I saw of the nurburgring was a VHS (Yes VIDEO) called 'Cossiekiller at The Ring' which was a 1998ish wagon ragging it around the ring when I was about 15, I went off them during the bug eye period, but as jamie says, if you want power and 4wd its hard to look at anything else...

I wanted a Litchfield T20, but they are rare and none on PH atm, so I found this Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) Sti Spec C - these have much stronger engines than the UK ones and come specc'd to the hills. Spec C's are around 80-100kg lighter than standard STIs and come with 12 way adjustable ASTs as standard etc: this one has a stage 1 map by the looks of things (350bhp/350lb) and a milltek system & de cat. I probably might enjoy driving about in this in your face white scooby a little too much though lol

    3. Subaru Impreza Sti Spec C (Japanese Market) - £22k 2007 18,000 miles

Right time to get serious: I've spent £47,800 roughly and don't have a real porsche, the car I've always dreamed of....we all know what the prices have been doing over the last 2 years of all GT3s now it would seem, plus if I did get one, mileage would have to be a consideration....so I decided to go a bit left field and get a 997 gen 1 C2S with the aim of giving it the full RPM CSR rebuild treatment, giving me a track focused 911 that should sound amazing for around 42k all in for the cheapest, so 50k should see something specifically to my tastes, and a re trim of the seats potentially etc. Plus it would be a fun mini restoration project in which I wouldn't have to do anything haha So i opted for this 24k 997 C2S with 70k as the donor/base car for the project

    4. Porsche 911 997 CSR (997 C2S Base)
