Evening folks, Seriously considering an RS275 trophy. I've hankered for another RS Meg after foolishly selling my 250. I'm currently in an E92 M3 which is good but does not deliver the drive the RS did. Bought the M3 on the back of an Audi S4 which I modded and although more hardcore, not on the level of driver enjoyment as the RS250. What is the rough lead time for a car spec'd with Ohlins? and are there any dealer discounts out there at the moment? Thanks
The best deal I have seen is with Arnold Clark. Have a look at their site. When I spoke to them about two months ago I was after a LY 275 with ohlins and they said three months.
Have a go on carwow.co.uk mate - you fill in what you want - spec out the meg exactly as you want - then the UK dealers email you with their price for that spec, from all over...I did it for a Throphy R, and one of the dealers offered 5k off list price straight away, you'll have offers in the morning, and then you know a good starting point price wise when you walk in....
I had a 4 month wait for the Trophy but that was ordered back in September. I think the first deliveries were in December so the lead time might now be less. I managed a 3k discount which I know a few others got too. If your wanting to order one I would enquire pretty soon as the order book will be closed before long. Renault won't say how long exactly, but originally it was stated for the end of March just gone but it's been extended. Glad to hear the Meg trumps the M3 & S4 for driver enjoyment
I waited 3 months mate and got 3k off list price too i used Renault Birmingham who I can't reccomend enough Renault Peterborough who are a supposed Renaultsport dealership were useless and did not try to help me whatsoever
Thanks guys, just input into car wow and see what happens. My only stumbling block will be the price on the M3. Last count it had dropped >£10k in a year. My timing sucks, bought it just as the new model was coming out so residuals on the E92's was still strong at the time, now they are falling around £1k every 6 weeks. I'm not giving it away. I may end up keeping it and buying a RS250 cup for fun and tracktime. M3 by evojkp, on Flickr M3 by evojkp, on Flickr M3 by evojkp, on Flickr
When i picked mine up last thursday, the dealer told me that the order books are now closed. I told him that i thought it had been extended until mid april. So he went on the system to try and order one, but it wouldnt let him.
Just had first quote, 275 ,glacier, ohlins, speedlines and spare wheel and offering £1300 off....must do better I think. If I got a discount of £5k then it may help soften the loss on the M3.
getting pitched £26k for a 2012 with DCT....dealers are selling 09 plate manuals in Edinburgh for £29k
Totally different machines and depends on what you want from it. If you want corner speed with confidence and ability then the meg is the car. I play on a lot of backroads and the meg destroyed the M3 in the bends. You need to rev the M to get it to really move as well. The M3 is an 'A' road weapon, not a 'B' road. Don't get me wrong the M3 is stunning and the DCT is on another level, but for me the dynamics on the Meg is what I prefer. Get an extended drive in one then drive home the same road in the RS and see how it feels.
This makes sense, I know that you have to really work the M3 to get it going.. which I don't mind considering where the red line is I think I'll miss the Meg though... maybe will get another one at some point
That's my thoughts and as soon as I sold my RS250 to go into the S4, about 2 months later I realised I'd made a mistake and would get another at some point. I'm still considering keeping the M and getting an older RS for trackdays and fun. You'll love the M3. With the OEM backbox mod and downshifts with the DCT in M Mode you'll be giggling like a giggly thing. If you do keep in in the top end fo revs, then its an animal, but you have to be really on your toes when pedalling it hard as it will bite. Only took all the aids off once in the wet....NEVER AGAIN LOL!! It's not a cheap thing to run either. This month I have End of warranty renewal (would not have one of these without extended warranty), MOT, Insurance and big service due... so this is influencing my thoughts on changing, if I have to pay all that out then I'll keep for another 8 months or so. Sounds like I'll be giggling a lot! The one I've gone for is DCT.. I can't wait for the downshift blips! Yeah I don't plan on turning off all the systems for a while! The one I'm getting also comes with 2 year warranty.. thank F**K
Horley Renault with a discount of £5,144 Southend £0 discount Leicester £1,344 discount Burton £4,194 So the best price is £27,461 from Horley with ohlins, speedlines in red lead time of 3-4months
With DCT you'll get used to turning on power button and moving the shift speed to '3' for normal driving. Warranty is a must. There are no cheap repairs on these, with throttle actuators being the most common fault at 1k a pop. The only issue I have had was engine went into limp mode after an issue with the brakes which was eventually traced to pressure sensor. It went into limp mode as I was tramping on at *cough*mph on a sweeping bend in the rain....serious bum clench moment. After a couple of dealer quotes to buy in the M3 today, I think I just may have to do that Best Quote so far is Holdens at £27,135 for speedlines, ohlins and spare wheel.
It's not. That'll be the 265. Seems quite common for these type of car sites to get details wrong, which is why I take the quotes people post with a pinch of salt normally.
Going to start looking for a good RS250 in a couple of months as after getting a reality check on the M3, it's going to stay with me for a bit. Whilst i could just accept the prices being bid and move on to a new car, common sense say keep and enjoy it until they level out. >£10k in a year.....I've never experienced that type of depreciation before. A quick autotrader and PH search shows quite a few potentially sound RS250's out there.
I've never heard of car wow but after trying it I reckon it's fantastic. What's the catch tho? it almost makes me doubt why I would look into buying a used 265 for 23k when I can get a new trophy for a few grand more !
R u having a laugh Jamie ....there's only a handful on AT under 20k and they don't have cup chassis and have the cloth seats. Sure you may be able to haggle the price down
Thats cause all the decent cheaper ones get snapped up straight away and the pricier ones hang around for ages, Until they drop their prices. Horse for course i guess though. I personally wouldn't be dropping anymore than 12/13k on a 250 and at most 17/18k on a 265 but that is more to do with the fact that depreciation on them makes me sick. More to the point, I doubt many, if any actually get bought outright. Most are financed/leased as it the way with the majority of new cars in the UK. Anyway, I digress
You've got a point with the depreciation. Problem is im a picky bsterd when it comes to the spec and all the ones I would buy are over 20k. I mean FML I'll only get a pre face lift 265 if it has recaros, cup c, and those xenon headlights and is a certain colour. Tbf the face lift model hasn't grown on me yet
