225 Bad Engine shake

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by Pinkie, Mar 27, 2015.

  1. So I recently bought a Megan Sport 225 and love it to pieces but it has a whacky engine shake. Could this be due to a spark plug not firing at lower rpm or an electrical fault?

I have a video of it that I will link as soon as it finishes uploading.

  2. Here is a video of the engine shaking and crazy noise coming from the exhaust, my father says it is missing.

  3. Injector or plug if you're luck

  4. Unplug your coils one at a time to find which cylinder is missing.

  5. Is the engine management light on? If so get it plugged into a quality diagnostics computer which should aid with the fault finding.

  6. Nope, sometimes it says "Check ESP" after I go over rough ground and the engine shakes like crazy when I try to give it some beans. It does the shaky thing often after a cold start or when I park it on a slight hill, but this one was really bad right after a short drive.

  7. Check the lambda sensor's wiring. this can cause issues

  8. Check the engine mounts

  9. As said above most likely a bad spark plug or coil. Engine mount may be knackered because of this but not the cause.

  10. It has a new engine mount.

  11. Have you unplugged the coils to see which one is misfiring?

  12. Not yet no. I have 2 car people coming around today to have a look for me and to check the coils and whatnot.

  13. A knackered dual mass flywheel will also give this symptom at low rpm/idle

  14. Any joy fella ??.

  15. No luck yet, it started raining and I had nowhere dry to put the car to check anything.

I keep reading this, my brand new dual mass fly and paddle clutch does it at low revs. It worries me.

  17. I pulled the plugs and checked them about 2 weeks ago, haven't had a shake quite as bad as the one in the video since.

I didn't really do much, just took them out and put them back in after checking them. It seems to have done something.

  18. Scan the car with an obd interface, u shuld get a missfire message on a cilinder, then switch coils 2 to 4 and 1 to 3, scan again and u`ll confirm.

  19. Just got my car back from Renault ($1800 service...) and the car runs perfectly now. They must have found something up and fixed it while I was there.

  20. You've paid all that and didn't bother to as what they have done, surely just out of interest

  21. It was way overdue for it's 100,000km service + timing belt change and I just had no spare money to buy an OBD.
