What a great video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkAT82-R0S8 Anyone ever taken the Meg around those roads? I am almost tempted to spend a weekend up there.
Wow epic review there of some of the best roads this country has to offer, might see myself heading up there soon
The road at the start is literally on my doorstep and i get to drive it almost every day Been up the Old military road a few times as well, Last time with my mates in their Cayman S and E46 M3. Mega. Scotland really does have the best roads in the UK.
I'm going to give this a bash when I get a chance, some of the roads around speyside towards Elgin are also Golden. I'm still exploring the same area in the borders Jamie, around Moffat, there's so much to offer in Scotland, plus I've never even ventured west really, that trip up Callendar way was the 2nd weekend I had it so was just for fun as the road is too busy and full of safety camera hotspots.
I'm working up in Nairn just now. The road from Ft William to Inverness is a cracker as well but it isn't the quietest and there are the odd police about. Kinlochleven route is a properly awesome road as well. Probably better than the Actual Glen Coe one. Quieter and Twistier. Like a highland version of Dukes Pass IE Scotlands Nurburgring as a few know it LOL. Need to pop down to Moffat at some time as that is where my Agency i work for is based out off. Good excuse i guess to sample some of them
What a cracking heads up mate, that road is VERY good , did 2 full loops of the Loch before heading back, sadly the councils attempts at the pot hole repairs made it stone chip city and slippy, but it was dead.
Coincidentally Im in Ballater just now and came up this road on Wednesday night and had one of the best drives I've ever had, and that was in my girlfriends 1.6tdi A1! Didn't see another car for 29 miles past Glenshee. The Megane would be epic on it but it is a little rough in places. We're over the Cockbridge Tomintoul section tomorrow to Granton on Spey. Can't wait. The Lagan road over to Fort William is amazing. The B9007 Carebridge to Nairn/Forres is a gem too.
I love these roads. I'm up Scotland around these parts a few times a year climbing and always thoroughly enjoy the roads. Truly special part part of the world.
Thats awesome Chris, yeah to be honest I never fully appreciated how awesome Scotland was till I lived in london - there was loads of proper walkers out and about today even in 60mph winds and constant driving rain. The beauty of these places, for me anyway, is that every month of the year you go it looks different - its spectacular
I ws living in Kinloch last summer for a bit and it was my daily commute. Best commute in the country? Possibly.
Haha, hands down that has to be up there. What suspension set up are you running mate? have been thinking about changing up (car on 72k now standard springs etc) but want the set up to be optimised for these kind of driving roads? BC going to cut it? or should I save for V3s?
I was running stock suspension which was perfect as it was still soft enough for those road surfaces. On a borrowed set of H&R springs at the moment but i have some Nitrons waiting to go on at some point. Did have a set of Intrax 1K2's but returned them in favour of the Nitrons, As they are much cheaper and are UK based so easier to get them rebuilt and revalved when it goes on its diet and gets caged later this year. Everyone bangs on about Cooksport springs and if i had a Mk2 i would probably of went for them. Only reason i have went for coilovers is the Megane is going to be a track car after this summer
yeah, I was just worried about the drop - its been very liberating throwing the meg into all kinds of compressions without it ever scraping, I would of bought them by now if they were in stock, cheap enough just to try really
Phenomenal shoot over a fantastic location. I can't believe I've never been to Scotland, I must get myself there and test these roads and witness those mountains first hand.
