Had a nice surprise earlier when i found out some **** drove into my car and left it Dont worry it wasn't my megane, I've got my mk2 polo parked up on the road which now has a ruined bumper and a fresh dent and scratch on the side. Doesn't exactly help that im currently trying to sell it, price reduction I think
I feel for you mate. My wife works at tesco and it is nearly a weekly occurrence that someone drives in to her car or opens a door on to it!
This happened to me 4 years ago. Missus' brand new car was parked at work, At toys r us, way over in an area where no one ever parked. Some bint reversed into it causing significant damage. According to a witness, she stopped, looked then drove off. Luckily, some chap noticed took her reg no. and went into the shop and told the customer help desk. It was announced on the PA and my missus picked up on it. Police informed & stupid bint tracked down within 24 hrs. No idea what she got but we got her insurance details from it and had the car fixed. £900 worth of damage/repairs. I still suffer from it now as I have to declare it on my insurance. As a result my premium is inflated as I'm considered an at risk driver for 5 yrs.
i would change your insurance company then, a women reversed into my parked car nearly five years ago and it hasn't had any effect on my premiums what so ever.
I change my insurance provider every year. You have to declare it, regardless of who your insurer is. I guarantee it will effect your premium.
Never thought about it before but its really annoying when it happens, more so that someone is a selfish bastard. There is care home opposits my house and people from there park on that road so I think it might have been one of them. I'll go have a look around the cars tomorrow
One of my dreg neighbours twated the bumper of the Megane, & then buggered off. £250 lighter to get repaired out of my own pocket.
I declare mine every year, but if it's a non-fault accident it doesn't affect your insurance, ring and ask.
Of course it does. It means you're more likely to claim. Higher risk. I have two claims I have to declare. This one and another from storm damage (hail). Neither were my fault yet the difference in premium if don't declare them is quite significant.
if another person hits your car and it's there fault, you claim off there insurance which makes it a non-fault, so it doesn't increase your premium, a hail storm is claimed off your own insurance so is classed as a fault claim, so your premiums increase, ring your insurer and check.
I've just done a comparison, on a comparison website funnily enough, as an experiment. My renewal is due next week so not time wasted. Same details for each quote but I removed the hail claim (ie the one against my own policy) then got an initial quote. I then edited the details again to remove the non-fault claim. The difference in the premiums between having no claims at all and the non fault claim was £25. The list of providers was identical, less the decrease in premium for removing the non-fault claim. It's probably best to agree to disagree in this case.
I'm 22 and my girlfriends neighbour hit my last car and caused £900 worth of damage. I had to go door to door to find out who it was as she didn't bother stopping! My insurance increased by £300 the next year as I was 20 and now a "high risk driver." I have also had a non fault accident in the Meg which involved a person and I didn't make a claim, and I have been told by my current insurance company that my premium will go up to £1800 next month when it's due! I have also been told by insurance companies that they won't insure me because of it! 2 accidents non fault and my premiums are still rising by hundreds! It's stupid but part of the way they work I'm afraid!
Its not hard to see why there's uninsured drivers when insurance companies pull stunts like That. You should be able to claim extra for the added cost to insure
Happened to me too with my clio, driven into in a car park, and my insurance premium increased........
hate this shit came home one day to find my new 250FF, only 6months old at the time, completely rear ended.
The insurance cost increase is exactly why these idiots drive off if they have insurance at all, ironically I would say these type of drivers are the first to play victim if shoe on the other foot so to speak. It's a massive risk imo with the amount of cctv these days still many are still getting away with it, really feel for the op.
Your second sentence saved you there! My biggest hate is people who double park. **Tries not to stereotype, but once again it's a lady in a Merc ML..
Lol tbh if someone parked like that in the middle of a car park I'd be calling them a knob, hence why I park in the corner plus when you see and hear of people's cars getting damaged and then driving off its my justification for double parking lol
