250 Forge Dump Valve Leaking Boost

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by Kirby65, Mar 24, 2015.

  1. Afternoon everyone.

I was wondering if any of you have experienced a Forge BOV type dump valve leaking boost whilst accelerating in 2nd and 3rd (even gentle acceleration). I noticed it this morning whilst driving to work; I would estimate that the dump valve has been fitted on the car for circa 2 years+ with no issues. Does anyone have any ideas as to why this is? Hose come loose or spring broken etc.?

    Thanks in advance, Josh

Apologies if I have posted this in the wrong place.

  2. Take it off and give it a good clean. Could be a build up of crap.

  3. I think this might be what I'll do. Just had a word with Forge and they suspect that the lower spring could be broken.

  4. Had exactly the same with mine, the little spring had snapped, they sent me a new one with a pack of grease to re grease it for about a tenner iirc! Extremely helpful guys

  5. what is the tell tale sign for it leaking?

  6. Just opened it up this evening and the little spring at the bottom was snapped. Cleanest snap I've ever seen too I'll have you know.

A call to Forge tomorrow should sort it out.

You can just hear a 'whooshing' noise when accelerating or even driving around normally, If you've got it you'll know instantly.

  7. Just for clarity, this is the culprit.
