250 air con not working

Discussion in 'Megane Discussion' started by jimmy, Mar 18, 2015.

  1. The air con on meg 250 has stopped working. The garage has recharged it but couldn't get it to work.
He did say there was no leaks or blown fuses and the problem was likely to be the pump!!

Has anyone experienced similar problems on their 250/265?

    Cheers

  2. Not on the 250 but I remember reading that if you lost too much gas on the mk2's the ecu would disable the aircon, IIRC you had to turn it back on with clip

  3. Thanks. Can anyone confirm if this is true?

  4. I just regassed mine after fixing the leak and it works fine.

  5. :worried: replacement and work is about 700 quid.. You might aswel get the cam belt done at the same time to save costs on the long run too.

  6. The ecu locks the pump out on some cars.

  7. Google can :-https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=meganesport+aircon+clip&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&gws_rd=cr&ei=OsAJVanALsv1UMiYhMgF.

Top two threads ~(at least on my search)

  8. Thanks bud, but those threads are relating to mk2's mines a mk3.

  9. Turns out the problem is the AC pump (Compressor) over £700 supply and fit! It's good job the supplying dealers paying for it.

Doesn't give me much confidence in Renaults so called improved build quality though!!

  10. Has it been checked on clip?

  11. I think you're just unlucky. First time I've heard of one going on a MKIII.

  12. The garage (not renault) said he'd checked it on his own diagnostic computer and no codes had shown up! Should he have used a clip tool?

  13. Depends what he used, if its just a generic obd reader as his "diagnostic computer" it won't show up anything.

I'm still betting its the ECU that has locked out the compressor, get it plugged into a CLIP

  14. Ya, it's probably the ECU locking out the aircon. I had something similar with the blower motor, which the ECU disabled after the speed regulator for the motor possibly came into contact with water (no damage or blown fuse). Renault had to reset the computer with Clip and worked fine afterwards.

  15. They've changed the compressor and pressure switch as that was also leaking. It was apparantly an 8 hour job!! It's now working so touch wood it's all sorted.
