Ktec induction

  1. I'm getting my 250 serviced soon at a rs specialist in Doncaster which is also a supplier for all ktec stuff and was wondering if or not to get the induction fitted while it's in. Any 1got it done and any good. I understand that the oem filter is good and a lot of people just take out the foam and put bmc in..??

  2. I have the ktec induction kit on my r26. It sounds ace, the chatter when you lift off full throttle is superb, sounds like Barry white chuckling under your bonnet. And when you boot it, you get a deep growl. I think its a great mod. You probably loose some bhp, but it's worth it as it adds character to the engine IMHO.

  3. I have one fitted to my 250. I haven't really noticed any performance gains or drops. But the thing sounds awesome.

Despite they have a distinctive sound the intake location is poor so heat soak is a problem if going down the induction route you really need to do a battery relocate or some sort of an air trap, imo the factory air box with upgraded filter and foam removed works best.

  6. Honestly, there's not much of a downside running this mod. It is still mostly sucking the same air from under the bonnet as the stock airbox does, even while the stock box has this pipe going a bit to the front. I atleast haven't noticed any significant change in inlet temperatures, perhaps 1 or 2 degrees more. Even while stationary in the summer. It's all a matter of personal opinion I suppose, but the intercooler is doing its job anyways

Only real reason to run it is the sound. I don't run the K-tec one, but the Injen Short-Ram intake for the Megane 3 RS. It features a complete aluminium inlet pipe which enhances the induction sound even more than the stock ribbed rubber/silicone pipe. A very nice piece of kit http://tymenjissink.nl/rs250/15-04-2014/2014-04-15 13.23.29.jpg

Anyhow, here's three small videos with the kit running (my car still has a complete stock exhaust, but notice the deep growl you'll get from such an induction kit)
