Backbox diameter/tips advice......

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by snifferdog, Feb 19, 2015.

  1. The rear pipes on my megane are scrawny looking and battered. I just wondered if the rear tips are removeable? If they are, mine doesnt seem to have any so what diameter is the pipe?

I stupidly didnt investigate this issue before I bought the car.

  2. You can just about see what I mean in this pic.

Its the only one I have to hand at the minute.

Here you go mate, is there anywhere that I can buy the tips or is it new backbox time?

  6. Don't think you can get the tips on their own, may be worth messaging people on ebay etc who are breaking cars?

Go to a local exhaust place and they'll weld some new tips on for around 40/50 as the current ones look atrocious.

  8. Yeah local exhaust place will weld new tips on. Try your local longlife centre

  9. There has been a few backboxs on eBay recently even some chopped ones.

  10. Ive seen the 'chopped' ones.

    What does it mean though?

  11. I've got a stock rear box and tailpipes, it's been cut when removed as most have but would sleeve/weld or you could cut off the tailpipes and put on yours?

I've also got a center section that has had the box removed.

Free if you want them? Bit of a drive I'm King's Lynn, Norfolk

  12. Ktec back box in my shed for £50 if you want it

    Le16 or le10

  13. Cheers for the offers guys.

To be honest I want to sort out my TPMS and engine mount problems first but I will be onto the exhaust after that. Assuming nothing else goes wrong in the meantime.

Oh, and I'm in LE10 too.

  14. engine mounts are simple and get the tpms disabled.

  15. Thats what Im doing mate. Already done the engine mount and the car feels so much better. Gonna get the TPMS turned off next and then crack on with sorting the exhaust out.

Will you have the backbox still or is it advertised somewhere?
