Afternoon everyone, I'm not one to post on forums but I thought it would be rude not to share my new pride and joy with you. I only had my white 250 for about 18 months (14 when I put the new order in) and loved it but couldn't resist the new Trophy when the deals were on. There was a delay in delivery but I've finally got it. I absolutely love her - also so many more features over my 250 such as the R-Link system which seems brilliant, reverse camera, RS monitor and the upgraded audio. I went for the 19" Speedlines and one major disappointment is that two of them have been scratched quite badly on the centre cap and a small area of the wheel around it - Noticeable up close and disappointing on a £1000 upgrade. Renault have promised to fix it but I'm not sure exactly what the fix would be. The best decision I ever made was to employ a professional detailer to work on her prior to my collection. I requested that the dealer leave it as it was when delivered, looking very dusty. Just as well too - the detailer informed me that it was covered in tiny bits of metal consistent with weeks spent by a railway. Following a wash, two stage machine polish and full protection he had the car looking absolutely stunning. He did an unbelievable job on it. As you can see I've tried to photograph her in various lights and from different angles to give an idea of how it looks but the iPhone camera just can't do the paint and finish any justice at all. Here she is, number 980 (apologies for the crude removal of the reg plate): I picked her up with 12.5 miles on the clock. That's gone up to 98 but the weather is looking too gloomy for me to take her back out of the garage this afternoon! I've kept the revs under about 3000rpm so far. Has anyone got any tips on running in? The dealer insisted that Renault don't recommend any running in.
Nice, The facelift looks so much better in LY than the pre facelift. Running it in, I personally would go for the hard run in route, IE give it death but some people are scared to do so.
Looks nice that! Love the interior. The run in schedule is in the handbook, 600 miles at this and that and whatever. I did around 300 in mine sensible and then did a Cole trickle
You have a very nice car! Went and had a look at one at the weekend but all said & done doesn't seem worth it changing from the 265 for me. Didn't like that the interior is missing the piano black from the 265 though. Loved the seats and so wish I could buy some and have them retro fitted, like the little carbon exhaust tip too!
Love the LY As to running it in, I think I did 700 miles under (ish) 3000 rpm ... the up to 1000 miles around 4 - 5 rpm ... then lost patience and all hell broke lose 2500 miles in her now and she sounds and feels like a dream
Thanks everyone. I'm absolutely thrilled with her. Appreciate the advice re running in. I didn't see anything in the handbook but I'll check again. I'll probably do similar and try and get to around 600 minimum with the ultra low revs and build it up similarly to you, Mike and TeaJay. I've had a little rev up to 3000rpm in race mode whilst sat stationary and it even burbles and pops after lift off from that - It sounds so good I will have to be extra sensible and use huge doses of will power to keep the revs down now... Jamie - Did you do full beans from new on a megane you've kept for a long time?
Ah looks fab mate, im not a fan of the facelift but love LY and love the interior! enjoy, its a hoot when you first take it to the redline and the exhaust is popping away, enjoy!
Don't Labour the engine though use a mixture of gears and revs. I didn't buy mine new but the first owner thrashed it from near new, think it had about 200 miles on it before it done it's first TD. Certainly not done mine any harm and it ran 265bhp or thereabouts when it was stock.
Love this colour, shame it's such an expensive option, but this is a truely stunning car, and with those options looks better than all other hatches imo also love the attention to detail where the guy has cross brushed the alcantara to create those stripes just so you know they've been done
Looks mint that fella - and welcome along too. I think yours is the first on here in liquid yellow. I think we're just missing arctic white for the full compliment (of original launch colours anyway). As already posted, 600 miles under 3k revs is in the handbook as the running in period. Mine's on 1700 miles now and is still loosening up, in terms of fuel economy anyway. Shame they've marked up the wheels but as long as they make them right I guess you'll be happy. What was the delay with delivery by the way, if you don't mind me asking?
Thanks Xanda. I love the LY but if I didn't have the choice I'd be over the moon with any of the colour options. There was one at the dealer in the ID white colour when mine arrived. Looked lovely too. I saw it on sale on autotrader about 3 weeks prior to that for a day or so and apparently it was snapped up straight away, long before arriving. The dealer said it was one ordered for Silverstone which was sent back as surplus. I'm not quite sure why there was a delay. It was due 25th Feb, I'd booked the detailer for 28th and was collecting on 1st March. It was shown on the system as being out of the factory about 3 weeks before delivery was due but it never arrived until the 5th. Luckily I was able to book my detailer again for the Saturday 7th and picked her up late on that day. It was a real pain though as I only found up that it definitely wasn't there, after chasing it up, late on 27th. I had to cancel my detailer last minute which wasn't ideal and I'd taken time off work. Had to take further time off work to when it did arrive. Got there in the end I suppose...
Time off work for this sort of thing I don't mind though. LY is a little too loud for me - I don't like attracting that much attention. It does look fantastic on somebody else's car though
